00:00Why didn't you tell me this was my mother's house?
00:02Why didn't you ask?
00:03Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:04And today, we're looking at SpongeBob jokes too edgy
00:07to make it in the final cut.
00:09Here you go.
00:10It's the best seat in the house.
00:15Number 10, Sandy's bikini and SpongeBob's car crash.
00:19I am about to write the greatest essay of all time.
00:22Like most great essays, it will be written on paper.
00:26The episode, Procrastination, deals with the theme of, well,
00:30procrastination.
00:32SpongeBob struggles to write an 800-word essay
00:35for boating school.
00:36Gee, this is harder than I thought.
00:38After having difficulty starting,
00:40he eventually looks out his window
00:42and sees everyone outside having a wonderful time,
00:45including Patrick and Sandy.
00:47Patrick makes a motion to put sunscreen
00:49on Sandy's back, which to some viewers
00:51looked like he was taking off her bikini.
00:54SpongeBob then returns to write, daydreaming
00:56about getting his driving license.
00:58He imagines a racing car, but it abruptly and violently
01:02flips over.
01:03Apparently, Nickelodeon thought this car crash
01:05to be too violent for kids.
01:07Both reasons caused them to cut the scene entirely.
01:10How about some calisthenics?
01:12Hop, hoo, hop, hoo, hop, hoo, hop, hoo.
01:16Number 9, alien cats.
01:19Gary, I'm home.
01:24Gar-bear?
01:25Released in 2020, Spun'd on the Run
01:28revolves around SpongeBob trying to rescue Gary,
01:30his beloved pet snail.
01:32Originally, he was planned to be stolen
01:34by photorealistic CGI-animated alien anthropomorphic cats.
01:38Their motivations were to have Gary release
01:40their ancient evil god, converting Earth
01:43into a giant litter tray.
01:45Hang on, Gary.
01:46I won't let you go.
01:47Tsk, tsk.
01:48Rather impolite, don't you think?
01:50The plot would have involved SpongeBob and his friends
01:53traveling to alien planets in a science fiction adventure.
01:56Eventually, the entire plot was trashed,
01:58and the writers thought it to be too far-fetched for a movie
02:01about a talking sponge wearing square pants.
02:04You may keep, Gary.
02:06And I wish you many happy years together.
02:10Oh, did you hear that, Gar-bear?
02:11Meow.
02:12Number 8, SpongeBob gets caught watching
02:15an inappropriate TV show.
02:17Look at this knot.
02:18Have you ever seen a more perfectly executed
02:20shoe-fastening bow?
02:21Gosh, probably not.
02:24In this episode, SpongeBob forgets how he's
02:27supposed to tie his shoelaces.
02:29One famous scene involves him watching a show
02:31about a sea anemone on TV.
02:33Then Gary enters the shot, approaching SpongeBob
02:36and prompting him to hastily switch channels to football.
02:39This joke could go over the heads of children,
02:41as it is fairly adult, implying that SpongeBob was watching
02:45something only for mature audiences.
02:47They've been tied for as long as I can remember.
02:51Well, I'll remember after a good night's sleep.
02:58As such, Nickelodeon seemingly decided
03:01it was too inappropriate for younger audiences,
03:03cutting the scene in some international versions.
03:06It would live forever as a meme, however.
03:09I was just looking for the sports channel, Gary.
03:11Number 7, Snowmen Dungeon.
03:14Hey.
03:17Thanks a lot, SpongeBob.
03:19While you were just standing there whistling,
03:21someone threw a snowball at me.
03:23SpongeBob and Patrick have an epic snowball fight
03:26with one another, trying to get Squidward to join.
03:28Despite being a relatively tame theme for the episode,
03:32one storyboard scene was far too dark
03:34to ever reach the light of day.
03:36Come on, SpongeBob.
03:37Let's go knock each other's brains out.
03:39I'm ready.
03:40This involves Squidward inside a dungeon
03:42full of snowmen and screaming, I'll
03:44bring them to my snow dungeon and extract
03:46their valuable secrets.
03:48We don't need to explain why this one was censored.
03:51Even if the scene made it past the storyboarding stage,
03:54we're not sure it would have aged well.
03:56What are you doing?
03:57You're supposed to be knocking each other's brains out.
04:00Number 6, Larry Makes a Fish Chew Glass.
04:04What's in that pink box?
04:06Donuts, sir.
04:08Do not bring those in here.
04:10Popular side character Larry the Lobster
04:12opens a new gym, attempting to get everyone
04:15in Bikini Bottom in shape.
04:16One scene from the storyboard proved so edgy
04:19that it was never animated.
04:21I'll have a double Krabby Patty, Krabby Fries, and, uh,
04:24meanwhile, what else?
04:27Uh, uh, a Krabby Soda, uh, uh, a Krabby, my leg!
04:33In the storyboard, Larry tells one customer
04:35the only thing you could eat worse than donuts is glass.
04:39Larry proceeds to smash a glass in the fish's mouth,
04:41forcing him to chew and swallow.
04:43Nickelodeon thought this scene was too dangerous
04:46to show kids, which makes a lot of sense.
04:49This joke is surprisingly adult, even for SpongeBob.
04:52Mr. Krabs, how long have you been in there?
04:57I think I'm done.
04:59Would you mind rubbing a little butter on me?
05:01Number 5, Plankton Mimics a Gun.
05:03F is for fire that burns down the whole town.
05:07Use for uranium bombs.
05:10Fun is one of the most famous and iconic episodes,
05:13focusing on SpongeBob and Plankton becoming friends.
05:16It's a wholesome storyline, but one joke
05:19was too dark to make it past the storyboards.
05:22It involves Plankton using his jellyfish net
05:24as if it were a gun.
05:25Plankton then asks, so what happens after we shoot him,
05:29making gunshot sound effects?
05:30SpongeBob understandably looks horrified, responding,
05:34you don't shoot him.
05:35Plankton, those things aren't what fun is all about.
05:39Now, do it like this.
05:41F is for friends who do stuff.
05:43Never.
05:44That's completely idiotic.
05:45Considering that the Columbine High School
05:47massacre happened only a few months earlier,
05:50there was no way Nickelodeon would ever air that.
05:53Tell me what you see here.
05:55I don't see anything.
05:57OK, you not see it.
06:00Number 4, SpongeBob and Patrick Become Parents.
06:03What he needs is a tiny Krabby Patty.
06:05Blech.
06:08Huh?
06:09No one's ever turned down one of these before.
06:11This is without a doubt one of the most controversial
06:14SpongeBob episodes ever produced.
06:16It involves SpongeBob and Patrick
06:18caring for a baby scallop.
06:19Let's try a donut.
06:22French fries?
06:25A donut?
06:27All we have left is this apple.
06:29SpongeBob takes the role of the mother and Patrick the father,
06:32leading to many wacky scenarios between the three.
06:35Unfortunately, the 2000s were much less progressive
06:38than the 2020s, which still sadly aren't that progressive.
06:42It sparked a lot of outrage for showing what some viewers deemed
06:46to be a gay relationship.
06:47This meant a lot of scenes showing
06:49the two raising their child were cut from the episode
06:52due to the significantly more prejudiced political climate.
06:55Despite all we've been through, it was worth it.
06:59Yeah, let's have another.
07:02Number 3, Censoring SpongeBob's Ripped Pants.
07:09Oops.
07:10I guess I ripped my pants again.
07:12Ripped Pants has been a fan favorite for almost 25 years now.
07:17SpongeBob's peers find his ripped undergarments hilarious,
07:20causing him to repeatedly make jokes about it.
07:23Eventually, they tire of his repetitive joke
07:26until the pants become sentient and leave SpongeBob.
07:29We blew it, pants.
07:32What do you mean, we?
07:34After losing most of his friends,
07:36he sings a heartfelt ballad about his ripped pants.
07:39Unfortunately for viewers in Italy and other overseas regions,
07:43this song never happens.
07:45Instead, SpongeBob begins to sing,
07:47and then it abruptly jumps to the end of the song.
07:50Also, in some places, the ripped pants
07:52were censored with a black bar, leading viewers
07:55to believe it was much worse than just
07:57his underwear being exposed.
07:59SpongeBob, that was so righteous.
08:02Would you sign my pants?
08:04Absolutely, buddy.
08:05Number 2, Pandemic in the Krusty Krab.
08:09Someone in this restaurant is infected
08:12with a highly contagious clam flu.
08:16You're all under quarantine.
08:19This Notorious Episode central plot line
08:22focuses on the Krusty Krab going under quarantine
08:25due to a mysterious illness.
08:27A health inspector decides the Krusty Krab
08:29is a hazard, putting the restaurant and all
08:31its personnel under quarantine.
08:33Quarantine, schmorentine.
08:35I'm the great-
08:36Ah!
08:39Breach contained.
08:41Good work.
08:42Nothing is particularly offensive about this episode,
08:45but that didn't stop it from being banned in 2020.
08:48The episode's timing was less than ideal,
08:50coinciding with the real-life COVID-19 pandemic
08:53disrupting the entire planet.
08:55So Nickelodeon decided to pull the episode temporarily,
08:59believing it would be too insensitive to release
09:01at such a stressful time.
09:03Drop it somewhere safe.
09:05Somewhere no one ever goes.
09:09What the?
09:11Ow!
09:12I don't wanna get sick, too.

09:30Number one, the Panty Raid.
09:33Are you ready to party, Mr. Krabs?
09:35I'm ready to party!
09:37Are you ready to party?
09:38Stop it!
09:38Just stop it!
09:39You're embarrassing me, Dad.
09:41SpongeBob and Patrick have a big night out with Mr. Krabs
09:45so that he can feel young again.
09:47This night out involves a bunch of wacky misadventures,
09:50such as visiting a children's arcade.
09:52Mr. Krabs decides it's too childish for him
09:55until Patrick tells him they are just
09:57about to go on a Panty Raid.
09:59I guess you're gonna miss the Panty Raid.
10:02The what?
10:03I said.
10:05I guess you're gonna miss the Panty Raid.
10:09The trio sneak into a woman's house,
10:11stealing her underwear, but are then
10:13caught by Mr. Krabs' mother, the true owner
10:16of the undergarments.
10:17With the hashtag MeToo movement making
10:20us re-evaluate certain jokes, especially
10:22in kid-friendly media, this episode
10:24has been banned from streaming for years.
10:27You're grounded for the rest of the night.
10:29Yes, Mommy.
10:33Don't worry, Pops.
10:34We're almost to your room.
10:37Do you think any of these moments
10:38shouldn't have been censored?
10:40Let us know in the comments below.
10:41I know all of it.
10:43With the sight of Krabs and I, he's been helping.
10:45A bird, a bongo, and a bird.
10:49Hop, hop.
10:50Grabbing.
10:51Oh.
10:52That's all 13, Patrick.
10:55Do you agree with our picks?
