We visited the area near Bristol Rovers’ Memorial Stadium to find out what it’s like, especially during match days.

A few years ago, I live in a quiet cul-de-sac next to Memorial Stadium as a student and can remember the area became very crowded during matchdays as well as very noisy with music and the cheering.

I visited the streets next to Memorial Stadium to find out from locals if much had changed since I moved out.

00:00We're just outside of Bristol Rovers Memorial Stadium. Let's explore the streets nearby
00:06to find out how locals are impacted by living under the shadow of the stadium, especially
00:12on matchdays.
00:13It's cool, it's nice. It's, you know, loads of students. I'm not a student personally
00:19but I live in a house where loads of students are. But on matchdays it gets quite busy.
00:24All the parking spots get taken up. There's a lot of like drunk football fans as well
00:29which isn't great. And it's quite loud as well. So like, obviously my girlfriend, she
00:35drives. So when there's a matchday on it's really hard for us to find a parking spot
00:39and we live here.
00:41It's a nice area to live in. I live just over by the Wellington, so like just opposite Memorial
00:46Stadium. And it is nice but on matchdays it is loud. So yeah, it does get a bit frustrating
00:53especially with all the cheering. And it does get quite busy so like the buses get really
00:58busy as well when I'm trying to move. But overall it is nice. So yeah.
01:03Well it used to be lovely but then Rovers moved in. Before that it was Bristol Rugby
01:09which were an amateur club. That was great. I was a member of the rugby club. Fine. Then
01:13Bristol Rovers moved in and now we get all sorts of problems. The police have to come
01:18round, police horses, all that sort of thing, keeping order whenever there's a match. So
01:25we don't like it very much. And we can never park on matchdays. So we can't go out in the
01:29vehicles because if we come, my wife's disabled and we come back I can't park. So I never
01:34go out on a matchday.
01:35There's nothing we can do about it. The only thing we can do is move but my wife's really
01:41quite severely disabled and moving is not an option.
