A lucky dad nearly lost out winning a £2M home - because he 'fancied a pint' at the pub.

Tom Steenson, 63, received a knock at the door telling him he'd scooped the four bed house and £250K in cash.

But at first he thought about not answering in case the call would “interfere with my trip to the pub''.

Tom, originally from Bolton but now living in Maidstone, did open the door and discovered he'd won the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw in Devon.

He said ''missing that pint made me a millionaire - it’s the best pint I’ve never had!”

00:00So it was just another Friday night and I heard a knock on the door and I thought to
00:06myself, what's he done now?
00:08I saw Carol's name on the phone and I nearly didn't answer it because I thought if I answer
00:12it now I won't be able to get into pub.
00:13However, I always answer the phone to my wife and on this occasion, thank God I did.
00:17Missing that pint made me a millionaire, it's the best pint I've ever had.
00:22This house is just magnificent, it's like something out of a film set.
00:25The kitchen's wonderful, the bedrooms.
00:28My favourite bit is the swimming pool, I can't wait to get in it.
00:31I know it's a bit nippy but come on.
00:35To wake up every morning and to look out the window and to see the rolling hills, I'm sure
00:41they're going to be good for my gals.
00:42I'm a part-time cleaner and I actually clean houses like this but never in my wildest dreams
00:47did I ever think that we'd end up owning one.
00:49For the immediate future, I'm going to keep it and enjoy it.
00:52Thanks to the £250,000 we could actually stay here for 10 years if we wanted to but
00:57we're considering selling it.
00:59The money from the sale could actually help us get our kids on the property ladder.
01:02The charity means an awful lot to me.
01:04Back in 2019, I went through a bit of a tough time but got some help and support which is
01:08what Calm do and to be able to help other people just like I was helped means an awful
01:13lot to me.
01:19That is unbelievable, come on!
01:22I mean look, the most important thing is like the money but also there's personal stakes,
01:26do you know what I mean?
01:28It would be horrible for me to be the first Omaze campaign that runs at a loss, it'd be
01:31career-ending.
01:32The work that Calm do, that is just going to help so many people, just thank you, thank
01:35you, thank you so much.
01:37We're delighted that the Omaze community has now raised over £63 million for good causes
01:42across the UK.
01:43That's a lot, yeah.
01:44Did you put Nutella on?
01:45Yeah.
01:46Oh, it was under the hammer.
01:47Watch that.
