00:00Hi, I'm Holly Alden, a food and drink writer for National World, and today I'm going to
00:04be taste testing Dolly Parton's brand new wine, which has been exclusively launched
00:09in Asda. Now I was so excited to find out that this was going to be released in Asda
00:14as I am an absolute super fan of the country music star that is Dolly Parton. I love her
00:20music, I love who she is as a person and what she stands for, but of course I do love a
00:25drink as well. So to find out that one of my favourite celebrities has released one
00:29of my favourite alcoholic drinks, a rosé wine, I was so excited to pick up a bottle
00:34and give it a try. And although I'll be trying the rosé wine from Dolly Parton today for
00:39you, Dolly Parton has also released Prosecco. I will admit I have actually already tried
00:45this one and it was beautiful. It was just like a normal Prosecco you would get, but
00:50of course it does have Dolly's name on it which makes it a little bit more unique. Taste
00:54wise though, for Dolly Parton's Prosecco, it was pretty normal and average at best but
00:58I will still continue to buy it just because I love Dolly Parton so much. Despite my love
01:02for her though, I'm here to give you my honest opinion of what I think of her bottle of rosé
01:07wine. So here is the bottle. As I said, it's exclusively available in Asda. I picked this
01:13up for £8.50. The Prosecco is priced at £10. So first of all I want to talk about the design
01:19of the bottle because it was one of the first things that caught my attention. Now if you
01:23are a fan of Dolly Parton, you'll know she loves all things girly. She always has like
01:28signature butterflies and most of her branding and that is no different when it comes to
01:32her alcohol. So as you can see with this bottle of rosé wine, it has a pink and silver butterfly
01:38design which wraps around the logo which is Dolly's name and the wine is just called Dolly.
01:44So she's dropped this in her name for the alcohol. And yeah, I absolutely love this
01:49branding. It is super girly and I think it would make a great gift as well. As a Dolly
01:54Parton fan and as a lover of all things pink and pretty, if I was to receive this as a
01:58Christmas present, despite not having actually tasted the wine, I would be very happy. On
02:04the bottle, it details that this is a rosé wine made in France in 2023. On the back of
02:10the bottle, we have a picture of Dolly Parton in her younger days. But it also details that
02:15this is from Parton family sellers. And there's also a message on the back which says, with
02:20her music and spirit, Dolly knows how to bring people together now with a glass of delicious
02:24rosé made for you and this moment. So let's go in for a taste. Now, I've noticed that
02:31this is a 12.5% alcohol when it comes to the wine. And I tend to go for something a little
02:39bit less than that. I like low alcohol content, usually. But it's not so much about the flavour,
02:48it's more about the way it makes me feel. So given the fact that I'm not drinking the
02:51whole bottle, I think I'll be fine. But it is worth bearing that in mind that this is
02:54a little bit on the higher end of the alcohol scale. Let's go and pour a glass. So I poured
03:03myself a small glass of the wine and the first thing I'm going to do is give it a little
03:06sniff. Wow, you can smell the strength straight away. I won't say it's an appealing smell.
03:15It smells like a lot of alcohol. But it does have that distinct rosé wine smell, which
03:21some people like some people don't. I do love wine. So I hope I do like this, but it does
03:26smell very alcoholic. Wow, it's not bad. It's actually quite nice. If you like a rosé wine
03:35like I do, this probably is a nice wine. However, what does put me off is the strength.
03:43It does taste as strong as it smells. And yeah, you can tell why it's 12.5. I think
03:49drinking a whole bottle of this would make you very drunk, which I wouldn't advise. I
03:52think if I am going to enjoy this wine, it would be something I would maybe just sit,
03:56maybe have one glass of. Because yeah, it is very, very strong. So it's a hard one.
04:02I love Dolly Parton. I'm so excited that she's brought out an alcoholic range. I think
04:06as well, Dolly knows her audience. And I think the types of people who purchase Kylie wines,
04:12which is wine made by Kylie Minogue, are the people that will also go towards this. Now
04:16Kylie wines are one of my favorite wines to drink. And she also has Prosecco as well.
04:21And they have proven to be popular across the UK. Now with Dolly's wines, I think that
04:26her name will sell the wine. However, the taste itself is a bit much. And it depends.
04:31If you like a really strong taste and really large alcohol content, then this might be
04:38the wine for you. But for me personally, while I love Dolly, I love the branding, and I would
04:44still be happy to receive this as a gift, it is something that I'm not going to be cracking
04:49open every weekend. It is far too strong for me. It's got a very bitter taste. I thought
04:55it would be a little bit fruitier, and it's not. So I'm a little bit disappointed by this.
05:01I won't lie. But it's not an absolute no-no for me. And I think if I was enjoying a glass
05:08of wine in the house, this isn't going to be the type of wine I will go for. However,
05:12if I'm with my friends and we're going out on a night on the town and we're getting dressed,
05:16then maybe it would be my pick.
