00:00The ocean is a beautiful thing, my friend.
00:27From shore to shore and end to end, where peace and rage and cold attend, the ocean
00:37is a beautiful thing.
00:39And deep within its bellied ground, invisible to all around, there swims a whale named Fifty-Two
00:46whose voice was, sadly, born askew.
00:51Hello, friends, he would start to say.
00:54Not that you hear me, anyway.
00:57I know I'm not your average whale, though I have the body and the tail.
01:02And yes, I swim from shore to shore, but sadly, still, I think there's more.
01:09Perhaps it's just that—never mind, it's not that other whales aren't kind.
01:15They are, in fact.
01:16I know it's so.
01:17Where one will swim, the others go.
01:19They talk and sing and joke about, and never fight or scream or shout.
01:24They're just like me, except one thing—they can't quite seem to hear me sing, or talk
01:30or joke or swim or be.
01:32I'm simply here, but they can't see.
01:37For whales find whales not just with eyes, but also with their vocal cries.
01:42Yet, ever since I've tried to call, it's like I'm not quite here at all.
01:47Have no fear, I'm doing fine.
01:49I've found some ways to pass the time.
01:52Lonely, yes, but that's okay.
01:55I'm sure I'll have a friend someday, and maybe they'll be just like you, someone who's kind
02:00and smart and true.
02:03That someone who will be a friend to those who need one in the end.
02:07Still, I am quite happy most of the time.
02:10It's not just me to which they're blind.
02:13This ocean here that we call home, there's more to see when you're alone.
02:18Like that, the sunlight trickles down on bubbles rising from the ground, or here, the way the
02:23waters swirl.
02:24There's so much beauty in this world.
02:27The little fish, they swim along, the whales, they sing their happy song, the dolphins play,
02:33the seaweed grows, the sharket comes, the sharket goes, and that's all mine.
02:41I get to see the things invisible, like me.
02:45So every night I say hello to all the barnacles below, to every bubble, kelp, and shell, to
02:51every grain of sand as well.
02:54For all these things make up my home, and with them, I don't feel alone.
03:00Perhaps one day they'll see it too, instead of just this blur of blue, the magic swirling
03:06in the sea, the whale that's calling out for me.
03:14Sometimes I wish I were like them, just playing games with all my friends.
03:18We'd stay together all day long.
03:21I'd find my voice and sing my song, but then I suppose I wouldn't be the whale I am, and
03:30I like me.
03:37It's true, I'm happy, and yet blue, this lonely whale named 52.
