Dale Jr. on team's Xfinity title: 'A lot of obstacles tonight, but it worked out'

Dale Jr. talks through the highs and lows of Justin Allgaier's championship journey and what it means to win at Phoenix Raceway.

00:00Zach Czerniola, NASCAR.com. Dale, you've been on this championship stage a couple of times for JRM. How is tonight different?

00:08Well, obviously because of Justin's championship

00:13We've had so many drivers come through the program and and it's been a pleasure man working with so many drivers and

00:21Told Sam Mayer on pit road tonight. I said man

00:24You're gonna be so fun to race against and wherever you go and whatever happens to you

00:28We're gonna have we're gonna be linked to you

00:30We're gonna be a part of your history and your story same thing with Byron Chase Elliott all those guys

00:36you know, and so that's a really fun thing to be a

00:39You know, that's why I think it's the motivation for why we love being in the Xfinity series and why we feel like we serve

00:46A great purpose in the sport and industry and we're an asset to it

00:50but we also have these veterans like Justin that he's made his home with us and he's given us so much and

00:58Never said no never rolled his eyes. Never shrugged his shoulders. Not once and

01:04Man, we have we need a lot right? We ask a lot

01:08from him and our part our drivers and so

01:12man, he said he does everything with a smile and

01:16and so I just wanted this really really badly for him, so it's a

01:21you know that certainly makes it different unique and

01:24Yet the greatest thing I think about all of this is the relationships that you make with drivers mechanics crew chiefs and

01:31Man, what a relationship that I have a friendship. I have with him

01:35I remember standing out on pit road probably three years ago

01:37both of us nearly crying because we came really close and

01:41Didn't win and and we you know, we said man, we're never gonna do that again

01:46we're gonna you know, we're gonna we're gonna find our way to the top one day and

01:50God man, it was uh, there's a lot of obstacles tonight, but it worked out
