In this video, we’ll demonstrate how to flash the Armbian 24.8.2 Jammy Ubuntu XFCE Desktop OS onto a 64GB SD card for the Banana Pi M4-Berry. Previously, we covered the minimal OS setup without a desktop environment. This time, we’ll focus on setting up the desktop interface.

After flashing the OS onto the SD card, we’ll insert it into the Banana Pi M4-Berry, connect the board using a male HDMI-to-HDMI cable, and attach the other end to an HDMI-to-USB video capture card. Using Camo Studio Pro software, we’ll monitor the Banana Pi’s desktop interface. A mouse and keyboard will also be connected to provide input.

Once powered on, we’ll monitor the boot process via Camo Studio and use the keyboard and mouse to configure the OS. This includes setting the root password, creating a new user, selecting the system location, and completing the initial setup to load the desktop environment.

After setup, the desktop interface will load via the HDMI connection and video capture card. From there, you can use the mouse to navigate the desktop, connect to WiFi, install software, monitor CPU, RAM, and storage, and complete the setup of your Banana Pi M4-Berry. This tutorial also applies if you’re flashing a Debian Desktop OS onto the board.
