00:00The Department of Health's Newborn Screening is aimed at ensuring the well-being of every child in the country
00:13by early detection of congenital metabolic disorder and providing immediate solutions for it.
00:22This is one of the aims of the TMA Kapusu Foundation
00:26that provided free newborn screening in Tayaba, Quezon, where 66 babies were tested.
00:38This is the old return box that will serve as a crib for the next one month.
00:46And because the baby is a minor, we will name him Jam.
00:52Because the family got together early at the age of 17,
00:56one of the things Jam couldn't prepare was the baby's equipment.
01:01He also didn't have any expenses for the newborn screening of the baby.
01:06It's a good thing that just one day after he was born in their house,
01:11the Newborn Screening Caravan, the TMA Kapusu Foundation,
01:18and the Department of Health in Calabar, Quezon,
01:21conducted the newborn screening in Tayaba, Quezon on October 17.
01:2566 babies were tested, including Jam's baby.
01:31I thought of the things that a child needs.
01:37That's why I did the newborn screening.
01:40The purpose of this caravan is to bring services to people like Ma'am,
01:46who are having a hard time availing.
01:48It's very important.
01:50So that when they see that there are findings in their newborn screening,
01:56an intervention can be carried out before the disease spreads.
02:03We also provided diapers, hygiene and newborn kits,
02:07baby swaddles, electric kettles, kitchenware, and food.
02:12We were able to replace Jam's return box.
02:17It was included in the eight received cribs.
02:21On November 8, Friday,
02:23at Dr. Santiago Lacdao Memorial Health Center, Barangay 1, Lipa City,
02:29we were able to conduct a free newborn screening from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
02:38This is not yet the end of the journey for the victims of the Christina and Leon earthquake.
02:43The GMA Kapusong Foundation is at Camarines Sur and Batangas
02:48to help those who lost their lives and property.
02:56Instead of throwing it away,
02:58Marnie is still trying to save the fruits of her banana plant that sank in the sea.
03:05It sank after the Christina earthquake hit Camarines Sur, San Fernando.
03:13This is also a way for them to earn a living.
03:17We chose the vegetables that we can still eat.
03:21We just wash the vegetables that we can still eat.
03:26What happened to Neiline's family from Talisay, Batangas is saddening.
03:32She lost her two children,
03:34along with 20 other residents who were affected by the earthquake.
03:41I saw the house that was destroyed.
03:45A big rock fell on it.
03:48I was so scared.
03:51I was about to run away.
03:54It sank.
03:55The earthquake was so strong.
03:58Camarines Sur and Batangas are just a few of the places affected by the Christina earthquake.
04:06That's why before the earthquake,
04:08the GMA Kapusong Foundation went there to continue Operation Bayanihan.
04:15More than 3,600 people were affected by the landslide in Talisay.
04:22Relief goods and more than 2,000 individuals were left in San Fernando.
04:28The GMA Kapusong Foundation did a good job.
04:31It's a big help to the people of Buenavista.
04:35Somehow, we can still eat.
04:37Thank you, Kapusong!
04:42Sometimes, whoever planted it, they are the ones who can't eat.
04:47That's the situation of the farmers in Libon, Albay.
04:51Most of them lost their crops because of the taste of the Christina earthquake.
04:57They are among the people who were helped by the GMA Kapusong Foundation under Operation Bayanihan.
05:08The rice granary of Albay, the town of Libon, was affected.
05:13This is where most of the rice supplies come from in the province.
05:19But the rich harvest of the farmers in Elmer,
05:23from Talintalin village, turned to stone.
05:27Most of their rice supplies ran out when the Christina earthquake hit.
05:34Instead of getting rice from us,
05:37we are now the ones who are buying it because we can't harvest anymore.
05:41We ran out of rice.
05:43Talintalin was one of the 7 villages that were isolated in Libon because of the landslide.
05:49It's really hard to get food here because we can't buy anymore because there's no road.
05:57That's why this October 28,
05:59on the 5th day that the GMA Kapusong Foundation couldn't reach them,
06:07Talintalin and Rawis were able to help the presidential choppers that were borrowed by Malacanang.
06:15We were able to give relief goods to 4,000 individuals.
06:19Thank you very much, GMA Kapusong Foundation.
06:23We will never forget you. Thank you for coming.
06:27We were also able to help the town of Pio, Durana,
06:31which was also affected by the landslide.
06:37Kapuso, Kapuso, Kapusong, Kapalang!
06:42We are thankful to Cebu Pacific Air for being our bodyguards
06:46so that we can deliver relief goods faster.
06:50Kapuso, GMA Kapusong Foundation still accepts donations of food and other items for the disaster victims.
06:59For cash donations, you can deposit in our bank accounts or send to Cebuan or Lulier.
07:06Ordering online via GCash, Shopee, Lazada, Globe Rewards, or at Metro Bank Credit Card.
