COP29 kicked off on Tuesday with UN leader Antonio Gutteres warning world leaders, particularly from the G20, that they have no time to waste in the fight against climate change. CGTN’s Radhika Bajaj reports from Baku.

00:00Today, of course, the World Climate Action Summit officially took off with the US chief
00:05Antonio Guterres addressing leaders from across the world and saying that there is no time
00:10to waste and also saying that leaders around the world need to do better to protect their
00:16people from the ravages of climate change.
00:18He has also said that this COP in Baku should mean that developing countries do not go back
00:25empty-handed.
00:27He said that G20 countries in particular need to take a bigger step towards climate finance.
00:34He said they are the largest amidst and with the greatest capacities as well as responsibilities.
00:40His comments, of course, are being seen in a very important light given that the next
00:46leadership in the United States of America seems ready to pull out of the Paris Agreement
00:51and that is being seen as a huge setback for global climate action.
