A woman whose stalker proposed to her at work after having met her just once was so terrified of him she couldn't close her eyes in the shower.
Jennifer Pickering, 32, has bravely opened up about her terrifying ordeal in a bid to encourage other women to report similar harassment.
Jennifer only met her stalker once, in March 2022, before he started bombarding her with sexually explicit messages, moving house to be closer to her, and even proposing to her at her place of work.
Jennifer immediately contacted the police and Jan Schlossar, 42, pleaded guilty to two counts of stalking without serious alarm and distress.
He was given a lifetime restraining order in June 2022, but within two hours of his release from prison on 16th September, he contacted Jennifer again leading to his arrest and remand.
Schlossar, pleaded guilty to harassment and breaching a restraining order, on Tuesday 15 November 2022, at Leicester Magistrates’ Court.

00:00I was very scared. From the first encounter he ended up turning up at the office that I worked
00:05in with flowers and a wedding ring and he actually planned to get engaged to me that day.
00:15I first met Jan when he applied for work. I was working within recruitment and he came in
00:20to apply for a truck driving job. The first encounter didn't necessarily ring alarm bells
00:27although it was strange. From the first encounter he was placed in work within around about 48
00:35hours I'd say it started to get a little bit strange, a little bit out of the ordinary.
00:40I was getting messages and I was getting a lot of calls. From there he ended up turning up at
00:46the office that I worked in and he was in a three-piece suit with flowers and a wedding ring
00:53and he actually planned to get engaged to me that day. I was very scared and I called the
00:59police straight away because I've never had any situation like that before and it was
01:05surreal. He was released from his first arrest and he was bailed to an address within a mile
01:11from my house and originally he did live in Peterborough so that escalated it very quickly
01:19and then from that I was kind of bombarded every single day relentlessly. On a day-to-day basis I
01:25was receiving messages throughout the night. I was getting messages at two, three o'clock in the
01:29morning, videos being sent to me. He would sit and talk for every 20 minutes of time telling me
01:37how we need to start making preparations for a baby, how he can't stop thinking about me,
01:42he's crying because he's thinking about me. I was getting messages while he was working,
01:48it was constant. It gave me a lot of anxiety and it made me very nervous around people
01:53which was really sad because most of my job is surrounding working with people
01:58so it definitely affected me. He went on for quite some time, the police would arrest him,
02:05bail him and he would break the conditions of his bail. He would then go to prison. When he comes out
02:10of prison he contacted me within two hours of being released from prison. On another occasion
02:14he was sitting around five minutes away from my house waiting for me on a dark morning at 7am
02:21to go to work so he just didn't stop. He stayed in hotels close to my house and he kept entering
02:28Leicestershire. The outcome now is that he's been given two and a half years sentence
02:43and that happened on the 2nd of February. He will be released within I think the next six to eight
02:49months. Hopefully at that point the message has sunk in and it doesn't happen again however I
02:56have still been receiving messages from one of his friends in the Czech Republic. Initially it
03:03made me nervous, now I just don't do things. Now I'm very much of the mindset that if I go out there
03:10may be the chance I could stumble across another person like that and it would give me hell and I
03:16just don't want to be out in a position to do that again. It's made me very closed off to
03:22meeting new people and I just kind of stick with the safe routes and the safe zones I suppose.
