Transcript
00:00It's going to come down to one mile, one lap, two teammates.
00:07Who have you got? Logano or Blainey?
00:10This is Blainey's final shot at it.
00:12He goes up high, there's traffic low.
00:15Joey Logano steps into history!
00:18He's a three-time CUP Series champion!
00:22How do you like me now, says Joey Logano.
00:25Well, I feel like we should start this interview by calling you three-time.
00:29How does that sound?
00:31Sounds great. Sounds really good.
00:34It's such a grind. It's so hard to get to this point.
00:40You know, we were saying, just to get one of them is challenging.
00:44But there's one goal when the 22 starts the season.
00:47It's to win the championship.
00:48It doesn't matter how many wins it takes.
00:49It doesn't matter how we get there.
00:51It's about winning the championship.
00:54And when it all comes down to it at the end,
00:57there's no way you can replicate it.
01:00To do that all together, it was really, really cool.
01:03One is difficult. Two is epic.
01:06But three is legendary.
01:08And you're adding your name to the history books with
01:10David Pearson, Lee Petty, Kale Yarborough, Daryl Waltrip, Tony Stewart, and now Joey Logano.
01:18When I say your name with those drivers that I mentioned, what does that mean to you?
01:23A lot. A lot. I don't know.
01:26I don't even have words to say it.
01:28Not that I thought about it much going into this weekend.
01:32It means more once you're with the people that you work with for a long time.
01:36I've been with Penske for 13 years now.
01:39You get to know the people really, really well.
01:42To celebrate with them and see how excited they are.
01:45This is it, right?
01:47It's neat to be involved with the others.
01:51It means even more to see their faces light up as much as mine does.
01:55That means the most.
01:57You and Ryan Blaney have brought three back-to-back-to-back championships to Roger Penske.
02:03Not many drivers can say they did that for an owner.
02:05So what does that mean for you guys?
02:07Particularly you, to bring two championships to Roger Penske in the last three years.
02:12Roger took a chance on me 13 years ago.
02:14An incredible team, and we've been able to do some incredible things since then.
02:18It's a real blessing to work with Roger, because he just wins.
02:23The guy just wins.
02:25I couldn't ask for a better situation than that.
02:27I'm truly blessed to have that opportunity.
02:31To deliver for Roger, the expectation is real too.
02:35Always, always.
02:37He took a chance on me, but if I didn't win, it ain't going to last long.
02:40Let's be honest.
02:42It's really special to be able to do that for Roger and celebrate with him here.
02:45Memories that will be with me forever.
02:48How does this one feel different than your other two championships?
02:52I think it means more as you get older.
02:55I don't know if that sounds weird.
02:57As he's 34.
02:59Yeah, I'm not old by no means.
03:01I think as you start to care about other things as you get older,
03:05you start to become a little bit more sentimental about things.
03:09Like watching Martin retire today.
03:11You start to think about those things.
03:13What that means.
03:15The work that he's put in over the years and what that's like.
03:19Hanging it up.
03:21I couldn't imagine, but someday that will happen.
03:23You're 34 years old.
03:25Where are you at?
03:27Are you at your peak?
03:29Are you at your prime?
03:31Are you on the bottom half of your career?
03:33Where are you at?
03:35I'm not going to say I'm at my peak.
03:37Just one.
03:39I'd say we're doing pretty good.
03:41It's hard to say.
03:43Your game changes.
03:45I've noticed.
03:47Your strengths change as you do things longer.
03:49When you're young, you come in with a ton of speed,
03:53but you hit everything but the lottery.
03:55You're out of control, but you're going fast.
03:57Then you hit a moment where you hit both.
04:01I feel like that's where I'm at right now.
04:03I can find speed.
04:05I can still qualify good.
04:07I can still make big things happen on restarts,
04:09which we did tonight.
04:12You have the experience to go along with it
04:14where you can be smart and be a really smart racer.
04:16I think the next thing that happens is over time,
04:18and you see it with other drivers,
04:20you start to lose a little bit of the quickness.
04:22Hopefully, that's no time soon.
04:24I'm only 34.
04:26I might be doing this for a long time,
04:28but I started young.
04:30I like to think I have a lot more years left.
04:32I would be remiss.
04:34We've obviously talked about Brittany
04:36and those moments that you guys have shared
04:38as a family throughout your career
04:40Your kids are older now.
04:42They're starting to realize
04:44who you are as a parent,
04:46but also what you do for work.
04:48How cool do they think Dad is?
04:50How cool do your kids, especially your sons,
04:52think that you are?
04:54Like I said, the other two are young,
04:56but my oldest, he remembers getting the flag
04:58from the last time he won here.
05:00It sits in his room.
05:02Now we have a trophy for all three of them.
05:04Perfect!
05:06I told my wife we're going to have to have another kid,
05:08but that doesn't go over well.
05:10You win a championship.
05:12A fourth one, you have to have another one.
05:14Seems like this way it's been.
05:16I love it.
05:18Congratulations.
05:20We're excited to crown you a champion tonight,
05:22but watch this.
05:242025, what's the goal for Joey Logano?
05:26Do it again.
