00:00Conor Callum, penalty shootout victory against United Services in the Pomposina Cup and that
00:07sort of continues the great run in penalty shootouts really doesn't it that you've got
00:11going?
00:12Yeah, I think it's seven in a row. First one without Ellis as well to be fair. I think
00:21when we're going to penalty shootouts at the moment the boys are full of confidence and
00:25fully believe that whatever goalie we've got on goal they're going to make one save and
00:29it's just down to them to technically execute what they need to do and we've done that again
00:35tonight so yeah obviously a delight to get through. It's another competition that we're
00:39looking to go far in and just see where it takes us really.
00:43Kieran makes the save and then all five tuck away and all good penalties really weren't
00:47they?
00:48Yeah, I think we've over crossed the penalty shootout. I don't think we've missed many
00:51and I think when we did Ellis pulled us out of a few so yeah we've been quite good with
00:57the penalties. I think we've got a sort of consistent order now without meaning too much.
01:00We don't do too much meaningful and we can't let the lads deal with it but we've got lads
01:03who are confident to take one so yeah my confidence is just executing their technique. Four or
01:09five really good penalties actually, really comfortable. I don't think the goalie got
01:12near any of them. So yeah, a delight to get through. Keep that winning habit. It doesn't
01:18matter what competition we're in. As I said to the lads we want to win and get through.
01:21Obviously, nil-nil in the end but yeah we're happy to get through tonight.
01:25The game itself, US sort of came and sat in really didn't they? Didn't sort of come out
01:30too much and you said plenty of pressure and territory and some good promising openings
01:34but just couldn't have that final sort of detail just to get the goal really?
01:38Yeah, exactly that. We worked very hard on creating the openings that we created tonight.
01:44You'll probably see a lot of similar situations that occurred consistently throughout the
01:49match. Obviously, you've got to rely on the boys' quality from there to execute and finish
01:58the attacks and obviously we didn't do that well enough tonight. I think probably realistically
02:05we only had two or three actual chances. We had a lot of openings, a lot of territories,
02:10a lot of box entries but did we actually have that many chances to actually score? I don't
02:15really know, especially if you compare it to the amount of possession and territory we actually
02:22had. It's a bit of a weird game to analyse to be fair. You sat on the edge of that box for
02:29quite literally 95 minutes. There's not a lot of space and it's hard to attack it but the main
02:35thing is obviously we got through. As I said, it was lively tonight,
02:39sort of looked quite lively down the wing there didn't he?
02:42Yeah, I thought Salah and Keogh, to be fair, both were in a threat all night. I thought particularly
02:49for Salah, he takes good care of his delivery. He picks people out, he passes to a lot of people.
02:54We just didn't really have that sort of quality to then score, but for that goal he worked enough.
02:59Having said that, it's difficult when teams sit in. The pitch isn't obviously perfect so
03:04you've got to deal with that as well. It just wasn't our night tonight. We've had that a couple
03:08of times so we have to try and find some more solutions. We need to be a little bit more
03:11aggressive in the box to try and maybe cause some mistakes. But yeah, overall we're creating
03:17the opening. We just need to hopefully start taking them because at the moment we're not.
03:22Yeah, the one when Dek hits the post, that was maybe quite a good chance wasn't it? The one
03:26right on half-time wasn't it? Yeah, that would have been a very different chance
03:30because that was from us regaining the ball and attacking quickly, which we've been excellent at
03:34all year. I think that was probably the only time in the game that we kind of had the opportunity to
03:39actually counter-attack because they had the ball and they were quite high up the pitch,
03:45I think halfway into their half when they had it. We obviously won it back and broke central really
03:49quickly and he hits the post. If it's an inch inside the goal, a little bit more goes in the
03:55goal. So, it's one of them. I don't know, you're probably asking it a little bit of a tough chance
04:02to take probably because he's quite far out. But yeah, that goes in and they have to come out a
04:08little bit more and probably there'd be a little bit more space for us. But as you said, all the
04:12time it's nil-nil and they've got a lifeline. If they don't shoot it out, they're going to make it
04:15tough and they did. Back to the league now and a bit of a mouth-washing test really against Hayward
04:21Heath, isn't it? Should we want two good sides going at it in that one? Yeah, no, we've watched
04:26them a couple of times now and yeah, the teams that they've played against have been quite
04:31defensive like the United States were against us tonight. So, we're hoping that we can maybe
04:37have a game where it's going to be a bit more toe-to-toe. We're certainly going to be
04:42aggressive and looking to win the game. So, they come into our place and we're looking to get the
04:46three points. So, they're a good side. They're going to, for me, probably win the league.
04:51But there's no reason why on Saturday we can't get three points. We believe that we've got enough
04:57to cause them issues in the one-off game, regardless of where they're going to finish
05:00at the end of the season. So, yeah, we've competed with Haven in a cup game up here. So,
05:05it shows that if we're at our levels, we can compete with anyone and we fully expect the
05:09boys to be ready for that because it will be a tough test, I've no doubt.
