00:00This Friday, famed internet celebrity Jake Paul will face off against boxing hall-of-famer Mike Tyson.
00:05It's a wild spot to see Tyson turn up, nearly 20 years after his professional boxing retirement.
00:10However, it's not the first odd place for the fighter to appear.
00:13That might have happened in 1987, when he became the title character in Nintendo's Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!.
00:19However, despite being a namesake for the game, the boxer actually missed out on some epic cash related to its high sales.
00:25According to fighting website Bloody Elbow, the game made Nintendo some 1.7 billion dollars over its lifetime.
00:31However, Tyson's messy public divorce, including abuse allegations from his ex-wife, caused Nintendo to drop the fighter from the series.
00:38Meaning in the end, Tyson only made 1.2 million dollars off the deal.
00:42Could that be why he's getting in the ring again this week for Netflix's live fight event?
00:46Well, that's unclear.
00:47What is clear is that the event was a surprise to many, especially since the age gap between the two boxers is so massive.
00:53In fact, the fight was already postponed after Tyson had a massive stomach ulcer flare-up, resulting in him throwing up blood and losing 26 pounds.
01:01Still, the bout is sanctioned by the Texas Athletic Commission, who have evaluated the 58-year-old's health and said he's ready to fight.
