Evri driver Paul McCarthy said he was “shocked” and “touched” after his customers in Istead Rise, near Gravesend, raised more than £3,000 to buy him a new van when his was stolen.

00:30was £350 a week and obviously I don't earn that off my every round and obviously the
00:36reason why I'd done it was we're coming up to Christmas, I didn't want to lose my round
00:40because it might take about six weeks for the insurance to pay out, I've been doing
00:44this round for seven years, I love this round, I love the area and obviously get on with
00:49all the people here and obviously while I was driving around in the bigger van, the
00:53rental van, obviously people were saying, oh you've upgraded your van, you know, and
00:59I told them the situation and then it was literally a couple of days later that obviously
01:05Sylvia and Tammy obviously set up this fundraising page which I was amazed at, you know, and
01:12obviously really touched and yeah obviously it went from there and obviously it kept going
01:17up and up and obviously I just appreciate what the people have done in Icid Rise, I
01:23really do, you know, and obviously now I've got to pay them back and be their courier
01:27for the next 20 years so yeah, so you know, it's just amazing, you know, the community
01:33spirit here is just unbelievable, it's a nice area to deliver to and I say I wouldn't change
01:38it for the world.
