00:00Rosé has made history. Her Bruno Mars collab, APT, made her the first female K-pop artist to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
00:11But who is Rosé? What's her story? And how did she make history on the charts?

00:20Born in Auckland, New Zealand to South Korean immigrant parents, Rosé moved to Melbourne, Australia at 8 years old with her family.
00:26She began singing and playing instruments like the guitar and piano, and she performed in church choirs.
00:32In 2012, Rosé's father found out that YG Entertainment was holding auditions for a new girl group in Sydney and convinced her to try out.
00:39She ranked first in her auditions and became a trainee at YG Entertainment.
00:43After four years of training in Seoul, South Korea, she was selected as a member of BLACKPINK, alongside her bandmates Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo.
00:51BLACKPINK released their debut EP, Square One, in 2016 and made its Billboard chart debut with Boombayah and Whistle on the World Digital Song Sales chart.
01:06BLACKPINK saw continued success on the charts with EPs like Square Two, Square Up, and earned their first Hot 100 entry with Ddu-du Ddu-du, peaking at No. 55.
01:15Over time, BLACKPINK released hit after hit like Kill This Love, their Selena Gomez collab Ice Cream, and How You Like That.
01:31In October 2020, their debut album Simply titled The Album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest charting album by a female Korean act at the time.
01:40Following the release of BLACKPINK's debut album, Rosé set out on her own, dropping her debut single, Album R, featuring her first solo single, On The Ground, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200.
01:54Rosé followed that up with her next single, Gone, peaking at No. 29 on the Billboard Global 200.
02:00The ladies of BLACKPINK returned with their sophomore album Born Pink in 2022, which gave the group their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The album includes hit singles like Pink Venom and Shut Down.
02:15BLACKPINK's success continued to grow, making them one of the most successful groups in the world. They made history by being the first Korean act to headline Coachella Music Festival in April 2023.
