00:21Commander Encina?
00:23Yes, ma'am. Good afternoon.
00:26Sir, what is the situation of the seaports in the country?
00:30And how many have been stranded because of the Nika storm?
00:34How is the situation now in the areas affected by the Ophel storm?
00:40Well, going to Nika, ma'am,
00:43as per our monitoring yesterday,
00:46we don't have any recorded stranded passengers in relation to the Nika storm.
00:55Relative to the Ophel storm,
00:59we have observed that the storms continue to pass through the Philippine area of responsibility.
01:11That is why we are preparing for it.
01:15Commander, what assistance are you distributing to the stranded passengers in these areas?
01:22And what seaports are affected by the Ophel storm as of now?
01:26Sir, regarding the passengers who were previously stranded because of the Nika storm,
01:32so far sir, we don't have any reported stranded passengers as of the moment.
01:38We are providing hot meals to the Philippine Ports Authority.
01:46So this is the utmost that we are providing to our countrymen.
01:50As to the coastal communities, sir,
01:54we are coordinating with them and continuously guiding and advising our fishing boats and fisherfolks.
02:05We are telling them not to go out during these times.
02:10Sir, have you received any reported injuries
02:14in the nearby areas affected by the Ophel storm?
02:19In the Ophel storm, ma'am, as of the moment,
02:23we have not received any information from our Coastal District, Bicol,
02:29and here in our TCG Northern Luzon area.
02:35We are fully prepared and coordinating with our government,
02:41like our DPRRMs, our Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.
02:47As of the moment, we are continuously preparing and we are also assisting our coastal communities.
03:01How is the deployment of the Philippine Coast Guard?
03:05Because of the various assistance that is needed from your side, is our deployment sufficient?
03:12Yes ma'am. At the first day, at the early weeks of the storm that entered our northern part of Luzon,
03:23our seven ships are ready here in the Philippine Coast Guard.
03:28We have already started the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary
03:32with our relief operations and relief packings
03:36so that eventually, after these storms pass,
03:41our ships will be able to proceed safely.
03:44We are ready to provide relief operations.
03:47As for the relief operations,
03:49how is your assistance to those in the remote areas affected by the Christine storm?
03:56Well, like what I've said sir,
03:58if we have window of opportunity for our ships to travel,
04:04we are continuously conducting operations.
04:07Aside from the DSWD, our Coast Guard Auxiliary,
04:15these are our volunteers who are helping us to transport relief goods
04:21and the necessary primary needs of our countrymen
04:27so that we can immediately deliver these to the affected areas.
04:33Okay. Just send a message to our countrymen who are affected by the Ophel storm.
04:39Well, yes ma'am.
04:41Our call is to be vigilant at this time
04:46and we should know what is happening in our surroundings.
04:50We should avoid traveling using sea vehicles.
04:54We should also avoid venturing out for fishing.
04:58That's why our campaign, our ICARE,
05:02Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response and Enforcement,
05:06is for our fishermen.
05:08Our engagement with the LGU is very important.
05:12These are the efforts and calls of our Philippine Coast Guard
05:16regarding the upcoming storm.
05:20Thank you very much for your time,
05:22Lieutenant Commander Michael John Encina,
