00:00The top battle in the NFC East between Philadelphia and Washington, the Eagles and the Commanders
00:11in a great week 11 Thursday night football game to kick off this week in the National
00:17Football League.
00:18The Eagles enter on a five game win streak at seven and two, a half game in front of
00:23Washington now atop the NFC East standings.
00:26The Commanders falling at home last week by just a single point to the Pittsburgh Steelers
00:32in a great game, Washington now seven and three, three and a half point spread.
00:37The IRS in favor of the birds tonight at home total is 48 and a half.
00:43We love having the numbers drive our conversation with the magnitude and the significance of
00:48this Thursday night game.
00:50Where do you look first?
00:52It's got to be the Philadelphia Eagles at the minus three and a half.
00:54It's one of those again.
00:55I always say this.
00:56If you think the Eagles are going to win, you can't say, yep, they'll win, but I don't
00:58think they can cover.
00:59That's ridiculous at three and a half.
01:01And also, as we talked about ad nauseum, the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff saying
01:04ultra aggressive two point conversions, not kicking field goals that usually adds up.
01:08So maybe that three is not so significant that maybe some other teams would actually
01:12drive through that 48 and a half.
01:14I think does make some sense.
01:15We get points because that will be from the catalyst to fill it up.
01:18The Eagles, even a team total for me for the Eagles, make sense.
01:20Let's understand one thing.
01:22I like both of these offenses.
01:23I don't like both of these defenses.
01:26The Philadelphia Eagles on pro football focus right now.
01:28Number one ranked defense there.
01:29Oh, no, let's look at the numbers.
01:31Look at the way it's played out.
01:32Look how much better they've become over the past four to five weeks.
01:35But Donnie, some of the quarterbacks here, nonsense.
01:37The numbers are what the numbers are and who you play Washington in the bottom five here.
01:41So if we're going to have two offenses that can get after it, but only one defense that
01:44theoretically can.
01:45And by the way, the pass rush for the Eagles, oh, they can't get home over the first two
01:48weeks.
01:49They've been getting home like gangbusters the last month to month and a half.
01:52And also that secondary that now includes Cooper Dejean and also Quinn John Mitchell
01:56absolutely lights out here.
01:58The advantages are with the Philadelphia Eagles.
02:00It's Thursday night.
02:01They're home.
02:02They should win this football game for me, Ben.
02:04Yeah, DRS.
02:06I agree.
02:07Right.
02:08I bet the Eagles at a three and a half point number.
02:09I voted for them in the fade.
02:11The public poll.
02:12I believe that Philadelphia is the right side.
02:14The Eagles, a top five rushing defense, the commanders, a bottom five rushing defense
02:20last year.
02:21Philadelphia, one of the worst secondaries that you will see in the National Football
02:24League.
02:25Now, third best, allowing less than a buck, 75 through the air, Washington, not bad in
02:29terms of its secondary, only giving up 183 yards per game.
02:34That's fifth best in the NFL, but the defense does favor Philadelphia.
02:38Here is what is confusing me a little bit in terms of the total.
02:42I don't think this is a 1710 ugly Thursday night short week game, but I do wonder a little
02:49bit if we get close to 48 and a half, if I believe so heavily in the birds again, Philly
02:55on a five game win streak, they have covered in three of those five games twice as a favorite,
03:02both of those times as a favorite against an NFC East divisional foe.
03:07Now, the Giants and the Cowboys are nowhere even close to the commanders, but the Eagles
03:12allowed just nine points combined in each of those two covers against their divisional
03:18foe in this five game win streak.
