Sam Steiner on the joys of roasting coffee.
Transcript
00:00Our main passion is obviously roasting coffee, but why we love roasting coffee is because
00:04it takes us around the world sourcing coffee, it helps us engage with our passions which
00:10is having a purpose for life, helping other people, having an impact everywhere we go.
00:15First up, there's always a nice long flight from Australia to any of our plantations.
00:19My favourite trip's going to Columbia, I absolutely love it over there.
00:23Generally we land and we go straight from the airport to a farm and we stay on a farm
00:28out there and then we spend usually about a week there visiting different farms and
00:33connecting with different farmers, so that's what our project is in Columbia.
00:39We love going there because we get to basically taste all the coffees that we're going to
00:43buy later on, we get to do what they call cupping which is just basically tasting the
00:48coffee as it's grown on the farm and we get to then connect with the farmer, have in-depth
00:53conversations about what they're doing and how they plan on expanding or improving their
00:58farms and finding ways then that we can assist them to achieve the goals that they have through
01:02what we do here in Australia, in Maria.
