00:00The country's largest government bank, Bharatiya State Bank, has increased its MCLR rate to 0.05% for 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.
00:19This new interest rate has been implemented since November 15 and all these changes will affect your EMI.
00:26Because based interest on MCLR can increase.
00:29So let's explain the whole process in detail in this video.
00:33First of all, let's understand what MCLR is.
00:35The rate at which a bank is allowed to pay a loan is known as Marginal Cost of Fund Based Lending Rate or MCLR.
00:46MCLR is the rate used by the SBI to count the interest rate for a loan.
00:54Until November 15, 2024, SBI's 2-year MCLR rate was 9.05%.
01:00As per the new rates, SBI's 3-month MCLR increased from 8.50% to 8.55%, 6-month MCLR increased from 8.85% to 8.90% and 1-year MCLR increased from 8.95% to 8.95%.
01:25Overnight and 1-month MCLR increased from 8.20% to 9.05% and 9.10% for 2-3 years.
01:37In 2016, MCLR showed the need to take loans from banks to bring transparency in loans.
01:46Borrowers with loans related to MCLR will see new rates being applied according to their loan reset duration.
01:55Most of the retained loans, including home and auto loans, are tied to the MCLR rate.
02:01This means that if this rate is adjusted, borrowers' EMI can increase.
02:07In September, SBI changed its MCLR rate.
02:14The updated MCLR rate is now 9.10% and 9.45% per annum.
02:23In just one month, SBI increased the MCLR rate by 0.05% from 9.25% to 9.30%.
02:34So, this decision of SBI will increase the burden of loans and EMI on the general public.
