00:00This video was recently captured in the skies over Vietnam, and this is November's famed
00:09supermoon.
00:10It's called the Beaver Moon, so named after the season in which beavers begin sheltering
00:14for the winter, and when historically trappers would have their last chance to snare any
00:18pelts ahead of that.
00:19And while the video was taken in Vietnam, NASA says those in North America will get
00:23a chance to witness November's epic lunar show as well.
00:26If you're on the East Coast, experts say that the moon will reach its peak at just
00:29shy of 10 minutes before sunset at 4.29pm.
00:33At that point, 100% of the lunar face will be illuminated by the sun, with Saturday nights
00:38near full moon still having 99% illumination.
00:41Supermoons occur when the moon is both in its full phase and when its orbit is closest
00:45to Earth, making for an intensely illuminated face that appears more broadly in the sky.
00:49At its furthest, the moon swings some 252,088 miles away from our planet, while at its closest
00:55it comes within 225,623 miles.
00:59And if you miss the Beaver Moon, you'll have to wait a while before the next one.
01:02According to NASA, the moon's next super showing won't occur until November 2025.
