00:00You're wonderful.
00:03Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most memorable stars
00:08that shared the screen playing romantic interests multiple times.
00:13Here, it's for you.
00:15Me?
00:16Uh-huh.
00:17Oh, Jim!
00:19Number 20.
00:20Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson.
00:23The only daughter of Goldie Hawn, Hudson has proven to be a cinematic match for Texan heartthrob
00:29McConaughey.
00:30Their first collaboration, 2003's How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, received mixed reviews,
00:36with critics calling it silly and predictable.
00:39However, many agreed that the undeniable chemistry between McConaughey and Hudson elevated the
00:45story, and it remains a fan-favorite romantic flick to this day.
00:49Take the lady's luggage back to her place.
00:50She has alternate transportation.
00:53You call my bluff?
00:59You bet I am.
01:00Five years later, the pair would work together on Fool's Gold.
01:04Although this action-comedy was not well-received, it was nice to see the duo back together.
01:10Marry me.
01:11No!
01:12You haven't.
01:13And yes, I will.
01:19Number 19.
01:20Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.
01:22While both Cooper and Lawrence are renowned actors in their own right, their collabs are
01:27worth checking out.
01:28In 2012's Silver Linings Playbook, they portrayed two volatile, complex characters falling in
01:34love.
01:35Despite the fact that she was almost bypassed for the part, this performance earned Lawrence
01:39the Academy Award for Best Actress.
01:42You love me?
01:43Yeah, I do.
01:46Okay.
01:56Two years later, she and Cooper reunited in Serena, playing a couple whose passionate
02:01relationship spirals into tragedy.
02:04Interestingly, Lawrence personally lobbied for Cooper to play her love interest, and
02:09even invited him to work with her on the film.
02:12You said that I was enough for you.
02:19You are enough for me.
02:20Number 18.
02:22Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner.
02:24This celebrated duo is known for their electrifying dynamic in films of the 1980s.
02:30Their first team-up came with Romancing the Stone, a swashbuckling adventure comedy that
02:35became a box office hit.
02:37I couldn't stop thinking about you.
02:39I even read one of your books.
02:42Then you know how they all end.
02:45Yeah.
02:46I...
02:47I...
02:48Douglas and Turner followed it up with the less successful sequel, The Jewel of the Nile.
02:52The pair also shared the screen in The War of the Roses, in which they played a couple
02:56whose marriage devolves into a bitter divorce.
02:59Decades later, they came back together for The Kaminsky Method, bringing their memorable
03:04partnership full circle.
03:06Were they ever involved off-screen?
03:08Apparently not, but their connection certainly felt convincing.
03:11Okay, well, then I guess my hands are tied.
03:14You used to like that.
03:16Mom!
03:17He did.
03:19Number 17.
03:20Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
03:23As one of Hollywood's original power couples, Kidman and Cruise shared the screen on a few
03:28noteworthy occasions.
03:30Their first major project together was Days of Thunder, in which they played a couple
03:34falling in love amid the high-speed world of stock car racing.
03:38In 1992's Far and Away, Cruise and Kidman reunited as Irish immigrants pursuing the
03:44American Dream.
03:45Why can't you say it, Shannon?
03:46Why can't you say you like my hat?
03:47Why can't you say you like my suit?
03:48I've earned this.
03:49I've...
03:50I've done well.
03:51Perhaps their most famous collaboration was in Stanley Kubrick's final movie, Eyes Wide
04:02Shut.
04:03This psychological drama delves into themes of desire, jealousy, and the hidden complexities
04:08within marriage.
04:10At the time of filming, Kidman and Cruise were married in real life, though they would
04:14divorce about two years later in 2001.
04:17I'm grateful that we've managed to survive through all of our adventures.
04:26Number 16.
04:28Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
04:30Mrs. Lovett, what a charming notion.
04:32Well, it does seem appropriate as always, Mrs. Lovett.
04:36How I've lived without you all these years, I'll never know.
04:38If you've delved into the eerie world of Tim Burton, you've likely seen Depp and Bonham
04:42Carter side by side at least once.
04:45Carter, who was in a relationship with Burton for 13 years, appeared in many of his films,
04:51no fewer than five of them alongside Depp.
04:54They played opposite each other in both Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of
04:59Fleet Street.
05:00In the former, Depp's character is caught between his fiancée and the titular character,
05:05who is brought to life, so to speak, by Bonham Carter.
05:08I was a bride.
05:10My dreams were taken from me.
05:14Well now, now I've stolen them from someone else.
05:18Meanwhile, in the film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's hit musical, their characters
05:23make for an eccentric and unconventional duo, blending macabre with whimsy.
05:2915.
05:30Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
05:31It's not a one-to-ten scenario, it's a basic question, how often do you have sex?
05:35Nicknamed Brangelina, Jolie and Pitt were widely considered one of Hollywood's most
05:40iconic pairs, and it wasn't just because of their years-long relationship and six children.
05:46They first starred together in 2005's Mr. and Mrs. Smith as married assassins tasked
05:51with killing each other.
05:53About a decade later, Jolie wrote, directed, and starred in By the Sea, with Pitt being
05:58cast as her love interest.
06:00They even shot the romantic drama while on their honeymoon.
06:03However, the pair has since split up.
06:05Jolie has also claimed that Pitt was abusive in legal documents.
06:08He said they were going to try and fight past it.
06:14That going through something horrible could even make them stronger.
06:2114.
06:22Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn
06:24Hawn and Russell are not only a beloved real-life pair, but a favorite on-screen duo as well.
06:30In Swing Shift, Hawn stars as Kay, a woman who joins the workforce while her husband
06:35is away at war.
06:36Russell portrays Lucky, a charming musician with whom she begins an affair.
06:48Russell and Hawn also appeared together in the 1987 romantic comedy Overboard, wherein
06:54she plays a spoiled socialite with amnesia, and he a carpenter who convinces her she's
06:59his wife.
07:00Years into the future, they'd pop up as Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Christmas Chronicles
07:05films.
07:1313.
07:16Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore
07:31Three movies, three decades, two really good friends.
07:35Since working together on The Wedding Singer in the 90s, Sandler and Barrymore have gotten
07:39back together to film one movie every decade, and even sang about it on The Tonight Show
07:44starring Jimmy Fallon.
07:53There has never been a romantic connection off-screen between the two, but Sandler's
07:57wife does say she loves Drew, and that's probably why they continue to work together
08:02and stay such good friends.
08:04It's almost surprising that they've only made three movies together.
08:08While Sandler has also demonstrated some fine chemistry with Jennifer Aniston in a few films,
08:14the Barrymore-Sandler combo can't be beat.
08:2412.
08:25Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone
08:27With all the fuss over La La Land, the 2016 Oscar-winning film starring Gosling and Stone
08:32in the lead roles, it's easy to forget that this wasn't the first time the young actors
08:36played a couple.
08:38In fact, La La Land was actually the third time Gosling and Stone starred opposite one
08:42another since 2010.
08:54The first film was a comedy, the second a thriller, and the third a musical, proving
08:59not only that the pair has good chemistry, but also that they are both extremely versatile
09:04as actors.
09:05Chances are, La La Land won't be the last time we'll see them work together either.
09:0911.
09:12Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet
09:22Jack and Rose's tragic romance in Titanic is far too memorable for their actors to ever
09:37work alongside each other playing love interests again, right?
09:40Wrong.
09:41In 2008, over 10 years after Titanic's release, the two teamed up again, playing a couple
09:47in the critically acclaimed film, Revolutionary Road, proving that casting these two together
09:51is a good idea.
10:01The only thing perhaps better than their performances is Kate and Leo's real-life friendship,
10:07and the tremendous support they show for each other's careers.
10:1110.
10:12John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara
10:14This iconic Western star and red-headed Irish rose appeared together in an astonishing five
10:19films in a little over two decades.
10:22That has to be some kind of record, no?
10:24Wayne and O'Hara first played opposite each other in 1950's Rio Grande as a lieutenant
10:30colonel and his estranged wife.
10:43Their subsequent collaborations include The Quiet Man, The Wings of Eagles, McClintock,
10:48and Big Jake.
10:49As you can probably surmise, most of these projects are Westerns.
10:53O'Hara and Wayne demonstrated a fiery, compelling dynamic, which served to cement them as one
10:58of old Hollywood's most prolific and celebrated movie couples.
11:089.
11:09Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan
11:11After starring alongside each other in two huge romantic classics, Sleepless in Seattle
11:17and You've Got Mail, these two just have to accept that their names will forever be
11:21linked together.
11:22Still, most people don't even realize that they played a couple in not just two, but
11:36three films, the first being Joe vs. the Volcano, which was released years before Sleepless
11:42in Seattle.
11:53Tom even had a brief on-screen reunion with Meg in Ithaca, a film she directed and cameoed
11:59in in 2015.
12:018.
12:02Richard Gere and Julia Roberts
12:05The 90s began and ended with films starring these two, with Pretty Woman coming out in
12:101990, and their second film, Runaway Bride, arriving in 1999 to bookend the decade.
12:16Of course, everyone knows the former rom-com classic for Roberts' portrayal of a sex worker
12:21with a heart of gold.
12:23But what also made the film what it was was the blend of Gere's serious attitude with
12:27Julia's lightheartedness.
12:36It's no wonder they tried duplicating the success of the first film with the second.
12:41Though they haven't made a movie together in years, there's always the chance, as the
12:44two remain close friends.
12:477.
12:49William Powell and Myrna Loy
12:58Powell and Loy make up another movie power couple from the Golden Age of Hollywood.
13:03Their first pairing was in 1934's Manhattan Melodrama.
13:16From there, they'd go on to appear together in an impressive 14 films, such as Evelyn
13:22Prentiss, The Great Ziegfeld, and Libeled Lady.
13:25But it was the Thin Man series that Loy and Powell truly won hearts.
13:30Together they portrayed Nick and Nora Charles, a wealthy couple enjoyed by moviegoers for
13:35their mystery-solving adventures and razor-sharp banter.
13:39Unsurprisingly, people began to speculate whether the real-life Nick and Nora were a
13:43couple off-screen.
13:45But Loy confirmed that she and Powell were simply good friends.
13:48Could have fooled us.
13:526.
14:01Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor
14:02It was rumored that Burton didn't much like Elizabeth Taylor when they first met on the
14:06set of Cleopatra.
14:08Things obviously quickly changed, because not only did they go on to make 10 more movies
14:12together, but they also tied the knot in real life, twice.
14:27When they first got together, they were both already married to other people, so they divorced
14:32them and married each other soon after.
14:34But then they eventually divorced themselves, only to get hitched again a year later.
14:39And then they got divorced again.
14:40Okay, so their relationship might not have worked out, but at least we got some movies
14:44out of it.
14:575.
14:58Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall
15:00Humphrey Bogart was known as somewhat of a ladies' man.
15:03He was married not once, not twice, but three times by the time he'd met Lauren Bacall
15:08while filming their first movie together.
15:10Even though he was 25 years her senior, the two began a relationship that was more than
15:14just professional.
15:28Bogart filed for divorce from his then-wife, Mayo Methow, and married Bacall in February
15:33of 1945, the year they made their second film, The Big Sleep.
15:37They remained married until Bogart's death in 1957, and made two more movies together
15:43along the way.
15:554.
15:56Woody Allen and Mia Farrow
15:58Between the years of 1982 and 1992, Mia Farrow starred in 13 of Allen's films, which probably
16:05had something to do with the fact that the two had been in a relationship since the late
16:0970s, early 80s.
16:12Meanwhile, the end of their cinematic partnership coincided with their controversial breakup.
16:21This wasn't the first time Allen dated a co-star.
16:23He and another frequent collaborator, Diane Keaton, were so briefly involved, but it was
16:29definitely the most scandalous.
16:31Because although Mia and Woody made a good on-screen couple, the latter felt that there
16:35was more chemistry between himself and Farrow's adopted daughter, Soon-Yi, who he not only
16:40left Farrow for, but would go on to marry instead.
16:543.
16:55Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland
16:57From what we understand, being a kid on the MGM set wasn't always a walk in the park.
17:02However, Garland and Rooney emerged from the experience not only with a lifelong friendship,
17:08but also with roles in several musical classics.
17:11They co-starred in many films, beginning with Thoroughbred's Don't Cry in 1937.
17:23Naturally, they often played romantic leads.
17:26The duo notably worked together in Andy Hardy movies, Babes in Arms, Babes on Broadway,
17:31and Strike Up the Band.
17:32For many years, Rooney and Garland were the darlings of the cinematic world, and their
17:37contributions have left a lasting legacy in Hollywood history.
17:462.
17:51Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn
17:54Lauren Bacall's good friend, Katharine Hepburn, was yet another actress who fell in love on
17:59set.
18:00She and Spencer Tracy acted together in nine films.
18:14Though he was only estranged and never officially divorced from his wife, that didn't stop
18:18him and Katharine from also pursuing a relationship outside of work, one that lasted over twenty
18:24six years until Tracy's death in 1967.
18:27While they never had children or married, in the years after his death, Hepburn stated
18:32she was happy just being with him.

18:591.
19:01Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers
19:03Here are two names that cannot be said without thinking of the other.
19:07The famous duo was never romantically involved, but their on-screen career together lasted
19:12over fifteen years, so it's no wonder people can't help but think of them as a couple.
19:20Gosh, that gal don't care who she gets thrown out of what.
19:25Both Fred and Ginger began their dancing and acting careers as solo artists, but after
19:31appearing in Flying Down to Rio together, they were seldom apart.
19:35In fact, their next joint film saw them in lead roles.
19:38Throughout their career, they each worked on solo projects as well, but never quite
19:43experienced the same amount of popularity alone that they had over the course of nine
19:47films together.
19:49I'm sorry to ask you to do this, but will you kiss me?
19:52I'm not sorry.
19:54Bravo, bravissimo!
19:56Which of these star couples do you think has the strongest chemistry?
20:00Let's talk about it in the comments.
20:02I wanna go home with Drewy.
20:07Thank you!
