00:00I am Saoirse Ronan, and I am a woman in Hollywood.
00:04I would say the moment in my career.
00:08That still amazes me.
00:12A couple of things. I really am so proud that
00:16I got to be in Greta Gerwig's first movie. Very, very proud of that.
00:20I also went to Telluride Film Festival for the first time recently,
00:24and they did a tribute for me, and it had a compilation of
00:28all of the movies that I've ever done, which spans like 22 years.
00:32That's mad to me, that I
00:36have grown up in this world, and I've worked with
00:40hundreds of people now, hundreds of brilliant people, and they've added so much
00:44to me. And I think, yeah, just the fact that
00:48this is such a huge part of my life, and it's my job, constantly
00:52amazes me. The advice I would have given my younger self
00:56when little Saoirse was starting out was
01:00to make sure that you give as much time and care and energy
01:04to your personal life as you do to your work life.
01:08The Hollywood moment that still amazes me,
01:12the first one that came to my mind was Gene Kelly in
01:16Singing in the Rain. Whenever I see that, I go, oh yes, that's Hollywood, it's so beautiful,
01:20and it's got so much heart and joy, and they just like
01:24really knew how to put on a show back then. The first time I saw myself in a
01:28character was, this is a difficult question because obviously
01:32there's always going to be elements of your personality that are going to come out
01:36in whatever you do, but I think most recently, probably my character
01:40in the outrun is the one that I would watch and go,
01:44oh yes, I can see a lot of who I am, and a lot of
01:48sort of my own character in the role.
01:52The future of Hollywood is letting more people into Hollywood.
01:56What the industry really needs to be about is just people doing really great
02:00work, and being given the opportunity to do that great work, which to me
02:04is more the thing that needs to change.
