00:00Good morning. First of all, I would like to express my respect to the President of the Dominican Institute of the Arts and the Directive he is giving us.
00:09I would like to thank him for the welcome he has given us and has not allowed, on behalf of the Senate, to carry out this simple but significant act.
00:19A very special greeting to Mrs. Rina, a Dominican compatriot with Provincia and Puebla.
00:30The Senate, in attention to the need to promote the good values of the Dominicans,
00:40decided in its session, in session of the Plenum, to grant a special recognition
00:49on the occasion of the celebration of the Book Fair and the magnificent literary career that has filled all Dominicans with pride.
00:59From Rina, Poland and Spain, a recognition that says, considering that Rina, Poland and Spain were born on January 20, 1932 in Santo Domingo.
01:10She is a poet and Dominican-American bilingual translator affiliated with the literary movement known as the New Formalism of American Poetry.
01:22She is known for writing poetry that catapults the beauty of daily life.
01:28They are those that describe her family in the domestic environment, what she calls instantaneas,
01:36as well as poems that tell ironic and humorous stories, both of the Christian Bible and of classical mythology.
01:45Considering that throughout her life, Rina, Poland and Spain, has published 11 collections of poetry,
01:52her work has been included in the fundamental French popular anthologies,
01:58and she has also highlighted the best literary works of Spanish and English poetry.
02:06Considering that at 92 years old, Rina, Poland and Spain, continues her work as a translator and mentor in creative writing programs
02:17and is part of the jury in literary contests for university students and high school students,
02:24her legacy is celebrated everywhere.
02:29Considering that with all her history and that historical development that the figure and talent of Rina, Poland and Spain has achieved,
02:39has achieved a place in the history of literary art, both at the level of the Dominican Republic and at the global level,
02:47worthy of being exalted by the pride of the present and future generations.
02:53Considering the Constitution of the Republic, considering the Regulations of the Senate,
02:57first, to recognize Rina, Poland and Spain for their outstanding professional trajectory and their great contribution to universal literature.
03:05Second, to order that this resolution be reflected in a parchment of recognition and delivered to Rina, Poland and Spain,
03:12given in the session room of the Senate of the Republic, National Congress, Santo Domingo, National District, Capital of the Republic,
03:19on the 6th day of the month of November 2024, year 181 of the Independence and 162 of the Restoration.
