00:00Voting is underway in black, it's the electorate that sits just south-west of Adelaide, near
00:07the coastline. It is a marginal seat with a 2.7% swing towards the Liberal Party. The
00:13seat was held by former SA opposition leader David Spears, but he quit politics altogether
00:18last month after he was charged by police with supplying a controlled substance. Now
00:23the frontrunners for this seat include Alex Dyson from the Labor Party and Amanda Wilson
00:28for the Liberal Party. Labor currently holds government here in SA, but the Liberals say
00:33Labor isn't doing enough for cost of living and rising power bills. We spoke to some voters
00:38earlier, here's what they had to say.
00:40What issues matter to you?
00:42Like everyone, the cost of living is probably a big one. Around here we big on, you know,
00:47with David Spears, with the environment. Our natural parks here are just awesome, just
00:51such a good place to live because of those natural parks. But I'd say probably cost of
00:56living and for me I work in the healthcare industry, so the cost of healthcare.
01:00I'm very aware of erosion and erosion near the coasts, so that's something that is definitely
01:04on my radar, so that's really made me decide my vote today.
01:10I've grown up in this area and now I'm raising my family in the area, so I think it's really
01:13important to think about what the community needs. And right now we need to look at, you
01:18know, local school community, we need to look at the parks and areas around for the families.
01:24About a quarter of people cast their vote early, but they won't be counted until Monday.
01:28It means we might not have a result when the polls close tonight at 6pm. But counting votes
01:33on the same day is something SA Premier Peter Malinowskis hopes to change ahead of the 2026
01:39state election.
