00:00All right, so, ready to dive into something really, uh, really interesting.
00:04We're looking at King Street.
00:05Okay.
00:06And it's a short film, nominated for Best Drama.
00:09Wow.
00:10Which is a pretty big deal, right?
00:11Yeah.
00:12In the indie film world.
00:13Absolutely.
00:14So, we've got, um, we've got kind of the royal treatment here, we've got excerpts from the
00:17synopsis, we've got the director's statement.
00:19Okay.
00:20And we've even got some notes from the judges.
00:22Oh.
00:23At the festival, so.
00:24Ooh, juicy.
00:25Yeah.
00:26So this is King Street, and it's, it seems like it's, um, creating a buzz.
00:30Yeah, it seems like it, it deals with some really, um, pertinent themes.
00:34Addiction, sobriety, and displacement.
00:36Yeah, and looking at the synopsis here, we've got these two characters, um, we've got Sam,
00:42who is a young person who is, um, living on the streets, struggling, and then we have
00:47Jason, who is a professional, seems to have it all together.
00:50Right.
00:51So very different worlds that are colliding in this film.
00:53Right, and it sounds like the, the way that they collide is based on a real life encounter.
00:57Oh.
00:58Yeah, the director, Chuck Schieffer, he's, he mentions that he based it on something
01:02that happened to him at a train station in Seattle.
01:05Wow, so he's bringing, like, real life experience into this.
01:09Yeah.
01:10That's really interesting.
01:11Yeah, it adds a certain level of authenticity to it, and he even mentions that he has this
01:15whole backstory figured out for Sam, and he'd love to explore it if he ever got the chance
01:19to make King Street into a feature length film.
01:21Oh, wow.
01:22So he's already thinking ahead.
01:24That's great.
01:26I always love it when, you know, a director has that bigger picture in mind.
01:29Right.
01:30But, um, yeah, I mean, the judges were really, like, captivated by this film.
01:35They said it was fresh and engaging the way that it explored these really complex themes
01:41of addiction and sobriety.
01:43And they were also really impressed by the soundtrack.
01:45Oh, yeah.
01:46Yeah, they said it really heightened the emotional impact.
01:48Oh, I can see that.
01:49Because, like, when you think about those themes, addiction and sobriety, they're so
01:52internal, right?
01:53And to have music kind of underscore and really kind of bring that out, that makes a lot of
01:57sense.
01:58Yeah.
01:59It seems like he uses the music really effectively.
02:00Yeah.
02:01But this is only an 18-minute film, and it sounds like it is really, you know, packin'
02:05a punch.
02:06Yeah.
02:07And this idea that maybe we'll get a feature film someday.
02:10Right.
02:11Imagine, like, what would he do with, you know, two hours to tell the story?
02:16Right.
02:17Would he go into Sam's backstory?
02:19Yeah.
02:21How would that, like, change the overall message?
02:23Right, right.
02:24So many things to consider.
02:25Yeah.
02:30Are you submitting your creative work to film festivals?
02:33There are small details that could potentially be the difference between getting selected
02:37or rejected on the film festival circuit.
02:39Hi, this is Michael Fair, and I've been a film festival director for more than 15 years.
02:44I've reviewed thousands of submissions.
02:46Would you like me to show you how to present your work in a way that every film festival
02:50director loves to see?
02:52You wouldn't believe how many submissions have incomplete information that negatively
02:56affects your chances of getting selected.
02:59Avoid common, costly mistakes that other filmmakers and screenwriters are making every day.
03:05Before you spend another dollar on submission fees, you should purchase the Film Festival
