Porthmadog manager Chris Jones reacts to 7-2 win against St Asaph City
Transcript
00:00That's a great win, Chris, on a try tonight. 10-2 against St Asaph. Your thoughts on the performance?
00:06Obviously, really pleased. I think we've had a lot of games in the last month or so where we've made a lot of opportunities and maybe not been clinical enough.
00:14Spoke about that before the game, spoke about needing to make a fast start and you could see that tonight.
00:19Obviously, I think the first goal comes after 45 seconds and then we're clinical with all our chances in the first half.
00:254-0 up and a lot of teams could have followed us. Full credit to St Asaph, they battled back into the game, made it tricky for us.
00:32But then, second half, I think the last half, we took over again and took our opportunities.
00:36At one stage, it was 4-2. Was there a bit of sticky time on the bench, thinking we might lose this?
00:42Not so much lose it, it was more we just needed to gain control again.
00:45So, obviously, we made a couple of substitutions and just tried to get control, particularly in the middle of the park.
00:49I think they'd made a shape change, which was working for them a little bit.
00:53Once we got control again, I think we started making chances for him.
00:56Obviously, when Rhys gets his hat-trick goal, that just settles everybody down.
00:59Nice to have a hat-trick on a night like this as well.
01:01Important for Rhys as well. He's been waiting for a goal for a couple of weeks and then 3-0 come along at once tonight.
01:07Did we lose momentum when John McClunagh went off as well?
01:11Yeah, I'd say so. Brilliant start by John. Obviously, he scores the goal after 45 seconds.
01:16Great assist for Rhys' goal as well in the first half.
01:19John's been brilliant for some time now, since he's come into the side.
01:23So, we were made up the way he started the game.
01:25Obviously, when you're losing, you've got to find a way of playing again because we haven't got a number nine at the moment on the bench.
01:32Obviously, we're missing Tom, we're missing John.
01:34Ashley wasn't here tonight, so we're a bit low in the final third.
01:36So, when we're losing, John obviously takes us a bit of time to work out how we should go about things.
01:40But, again, once we settled down and settled into the shape, we took over again.
01:44Great, nice. Great three points. Diolch yn fawr.
01:49Well done.
