A grandmother-of-four who started powerlifting in her sixties has proved that age is just a number as she's become a world champion - aged 70.

Susan Sabuda spends around ten hours a week in the gym training in the sport, which involves squatting, bench pressing and deadlifting heavy weights.

The mum-of-four took up the sport when she was 64 and has now competed in Canada, Spain, Sweden, Hungary and Lithuania.

She says people are often "amazed" that when they find out that she is a Team GB powerlifter because of her age.

And Susan, a retired gardener, was crowned world champion in the masters four division of the IPF World Masters Powerlifting Championships.

00:00Hi, my name is Susan Zabuda, I'm age 70, and I'm a competing powerlifter. At present,
00:11I am the British champion, European champion, and world champion in my age category and
00:17weight category. I've always liked training with weights. I used to be a bodybuilder,
00:23and I decided to come back into weight training and discover powerlifting, and found to my
00:29joy how much I really loved it, and threw myself into the whole side of it. At present,
00:36I have just recently been invited to do the European Championships next year, in February,
00:41which I'm now currently trained for. I'm fully enjoying it, and as for the future after that,
00:49we'll see how it goes at the Nationals. It all depends on that.
