00:00As is the case with any beloved restaurant, some menu items don't last forever. For lovers
00:06of Cracker Barrel's often eclectic list of eats, this reality especially hits home.
00:12So we've compiled a list of Cracker Barrel menu items you're not likely to ever taste again.
00:18On August 11, 2015, Cracker Barrel tweeted one final warning to their loyal breakfast fans.
00:24End summer with a sweet finish. Try our Strawberries & Cream French Toast Breakfast
00:29Before It's Gone, 8-16. What made this dish so special?
00:34As with all Cracker Barrel's French Toast menu options,
00:37it was cooked using four slices of grilled sourdough bread. There was one major exception,
00:42though. The restaurant stuffed this entree with a delightful cream cheese filling and
00:47topped it with powdered sugar and fresh strawberries. After it disappeared,
00:52some customers disavowed the restaurant altogether. One customer lamented on Twitter,
00:57"[Cracker Barrel doesn't have my Strawberries & Cream French Toast anymore. I'm never returning."
01:04Don't get us wrong, you'll likely never find any shortage of pancakes at Cracker Barrel.
01:09The eatery serves their light and fluffy buttermilk treats year-round,
01:13along with seasonal topping options like wild blueberries from Maine.
01:18Being seasonal offerings, however, you shouldn't get too attached to any special version of Cracker
01:23Barrel stacks. It seems they are just as likely to disappear as one of your favorite Game of
01:28Thrones characters. Take, for example, pancakes topped with fruit. Sure, you've got options.
01:34However, you'll no longer find fan-favorite cherries among them.
01:38Pro tip, buy Cracker Barrel pancake mix from the country store, and then top them with canned
01:44cherry pie filling and whipped cream from your local grocer. You are welcome.
01:48Another popular pancake variety that mysteriously disappeared is Chocolate Chip.
01:54In March 2018, one customer tweeted she would, quote,
01:57"...never stop being mad about this."
02:00"'At Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, choice shouldn't stop with where you go for dinner.
02:05You should get to pick exactly what you want, too."
02:08Cracker Barrel's buttermilk oven-fried chicken disappeared sometime in 2016,
02:12but it wasn't until 2018 that customer dissatisfaction came to a head. On Twitter,
02:17one customer proclaimed themselves, quote,
02:20"...triggered," while others vowed to never set foot in a Cracker Barrel again.
02:24Another saddened customer pleaded,
02:26"...I drive over an hour to eat buttermilk oven-fried chicken,
02:30and to hear that it has been discontinued totally broke my heart. Bring it back, please."
02:35In all fairness, Cracker Barrel does offer a Southern fried chicken dish. However,
02:39that apparently offers little consolation to devotees of the buttermilk oven-fried version.
02:45You can't very well talk about country cooking without throwing some red-eye gravy into the mix,
02:50and for a shiny moment in its history, Cracker Barrel served this red-hued elixir.
02:55Much to diners' chagrin, though, the item disappeared sometime in the fall of 2017,
03:00as one patron tweeted,
03:01"...I was told that you no longer offer red-eye gravy. I demand answers."
03:06A year later, another fan of the gravy facetiously tweeted,
03:10"...Cracker Barrel got rid of red-eye gravy and I'm only a little upset."
03:14So what makes red-eye gravy so addictive? This classic Southern pan sauce makes just
03:19about anything better. Country ham, biscuits, grits, fried potatoes, fried eggs, the list
03:25goes on and on. It's the kind of side that's often better than the food it tops.
03:30Once upon a time, Cracker Barrel bestowed diners with a most magical gift.
03:35Whenever one ordered certain lovely libations from the menu,
03:38servers delivered the beverage in a frozen mug. As in, yes, a gloriously frosty mug straight from
03:45the freezer, guaranteed to keep your drink ice cold right down to the last drop. But in the
03:50summer of 2018, the restaurant made a drastic change. As one then-employee tweeted,
03:55"...we just got rid of our frozen mugs. Cracker Barrel takes everything great away."
04:00While some diners simply referred to it as a, quote,
04:03"...sad day at the Barrel," other loyal patrons took it personally.
04:07One 2018 tweet in particular speaks to this higher level of disappointment.
04:12"...so I was informed this morning that Cracker Barrel no longer has frozen mugs.
04:17That is just wrong. Always got a frozen mug for
04:20my milk at breakfast almost every Saturday for the past 25 years."
