00:00Celebrities! They're just like us, equally unimpressed with reality TV-style boxing matches
00:06and saddened by Mike Tyson's tragic post-Glory Day story.
00:09Oh, laptop! Triple laptop! Mike's hurt.
00:13Mike's hurt.
00:14Mike's hurt.
00:15Yes, he is.
00:16A-Z listers alike flocked to social media to share their thoughts on Jake Paul and Tyson's
00:20wild face-off, and everyone was saying the same thing. No. Just no. Magic Johnson had
00:25a few things to say about the bout, taking to X to write,
00:28"'Just sad. I cut it off because I couldn't watch anymore. It's sad to see Mike Tyson
00:32like this because I went to every Tyson fight. This fight tonight was not great for boxing.'"
00:37Former pro football quarterback Robert Griffin III, who knows a few things about taking hits,
00:41bemoaned,
00:42"'This is truly heartbreaking to watch 58-year-old Mike Tyson in the ring right now.'"
00:46Some celebs were even more cutting in their opinions. Fellow boxing legend Terrence Crawford
00:51didn't hold back with the heavy blows, writing,
00:53"'I love Mike Tyson, but they giving him too much credit. He looked like trash. To train
00:58that long and only throw 97 punches the whole fight is crazy. I'm just glad he didn't get
01:03hurt out there.'"
01:04Whatever the opinion, the consensus seems to be that this is nothing short of a humiliating
01:08fall from grace. Back in the heyday, Iron Mike was unbeatable. During his career, Tyson's
01:12overall career record is 50 wins and 7 losses, with 44 wins by knockouts. In July 1986, he
01:19knocked out Marvin Frazier, son of former heavyweight champion Smoke & Joe Frazier,
01:23in an astounding 30 seconds. But Tyson's tragic return to the ring after nearly two decades
01:28was universally panned by fans, pundits, and celebs alike.
01:32His decision to face off against Jake Paul, a social media star 31 years his junior, was
01:36viewed as a cynical cash grab and a tragic closing chapter in the once-great fighter's
01:41career.
01:42He does a 58-year-old Tyson matchup with a 27-year-old Paul."
01:46KSI wrote in an Instagram Story post,
01:48"'What a sad watch. Whole thing was sad. Mike Tyson is twice the age of Jake Paul. It was
01:53never ever gonna be close. I can't believe that this elderly abuse was even sanctioned.
01:58Just disgusting.'"
01:59The YouTuber-turned-boxer had been a vocal critic of the fight before the two even stepped
02:02into the ring, and slammed the event organizers in a pre-match post on X that said,
02:07"'They are sending a lamb to the slaughter.'"
02:09However, some still had faith in Iron Mike and his ability to bust out with his famed
02:13right uppercut. A hugely optimistic Drake shared on Instagram that he bet a whopping
02:17$355,000 on a Tyson win. Whoops!
02:21And while tons of people said the whole thing was just one big money grab, Tyson Fury bucked
02:25against the trend. He told pro boxing fans on November 12th that he was totally there
02:29for it and that any haters were just jealous because they weren't the ones making money
02:33off the showdown.
02:34Perhaps the most controversial commentary on the match, however, came from none other
02:37than Conor McGregor, who caused a firestorm when he wrote,
02:40"...they are eyeing Pritchard Cologne for next opponent."
02:43If you don't follow boxing, Cologne is still struggling to recover after suffering severe
02:47head injuries during a 2015 fight that put him in a coma. McGregor quickly deleted the
02:51post, but not before fans railed against his appalling joke, with one person calling him
02:56a scumbag.
02:57Clearly, the Paul vs. Tyson fight brought out the worst in all of us. Paul may have
03:01been declared the victor, but you can make the argument that there were no winners here.
03:05Hopefully people aren't too disappointed, but come on, he's 58 years old. What you expect?
