The first journey on Dover's new Fastrack bus service
Transcript
00:00How come you're on the Firestrike bus this morning as the first paying passenger?
00:03Well, I'm a train and bus enthusiast. I go all around the country filming
00:08first trains, first buses, and so forth.
00:11I mean, do you think it's a good idea to have this Firestrike service?
00:13I think it is, yeah, because also you've got the school here as well,
00:17children, and if they live in Dover they can still come up to Winfields
00:23to get to school and also to get home safely as well, so it can only be a good thing.
00:29Do you think this service will help encourage people away from their cars?
00:34Hope so, because of the environmental side of things, that people have got to
00:40gradually come ahead of cars, and buses is one of the things that this government
00:46and the previous government have put money into.
00:49I've just finished the first ever journey on the Firestrike bus service
00:53from Dover Priory Station to Whitfield.
00:58It was a very quick and straightforward journey.
01:02It costed just £2, I was with five other passengers,
01:06and those I spoke to said it was a good idea to have the service.
01:10It would encourage people away from their cars and so on,
01:13and it provided a good link between the centre of Dover
01:17and Whitfield, which is fast increasing in population.
