David Lammy reprimands Russian counterpart for using phone during UN meetingSky News
Transcript
00:00I asked the Russian representative, in all conscience, sitting there on his phone, how
00:07many more Sudanese have to be killed?
00:11How many more women have to be raped?
00:13How many more children have to go without food before Russia will act?
00:18Russia will have to explain itself to the entire United Nations membership now.
00:24While Britain doubles aid, Russia blocks aid access.
00:29While Britain works with our African partners, Russia vetoes their will.
00:35We tabled this resolution to show the Sudanese people and the world that they are not forgotten.
00:42This text would have called on parties to agree humanitarian pauses, to ensure the safe
00:48passage and get aid to where it's needed.
00:51It would have galvanised support to local groups who are taking unimaginable risks to
00:58protect their communities and it would have increased pressure on the warring parties
01:03to agree a ceasefire by supporting mediation efforts.
