00:00Donald Trump's pick for to be his Attorney General, Matt Gaetz, is really going to be
00:05facing an uphill climb in this confirmation process because more and more allegations
00:10coming out, more details about really a story that was almost seven years old about the
00:17allegations that he was paying women for sex.
00:20But there's a new wrinkle.
00:21Yeah, we know that the House Ethics Committee has a report and there's a dogfight over whether
00:26that report should be released and it contains a lot of information allegedly about sex,
00:32drugs, no rock and roll.
00:35No rock and roll, but Broadway is involved.
00:40So the allegations against Matt Gaetz obviously mounting and Donald Trump, by the way, has
00:46remained absolutely 100% behind him.
00:49In fact, there's a report he's calling senators personally and asking them to make sure that
00:55they're going to vote asking is the way it's reported.
00:59But I think it's probably...
01:00We're going to get into this, this Broadway thing, because that's the interest.
01:03I just want to say, I'm not convinced Donald Trump is not using him as a sacrificial lamb
01:07to get other people confirmed.
01:10I'm not why I disagree with that.
01:12But let's get in here is what the attorney for the two women who say that they that this
01:18they were paid for sex back in 2017.
01:22Here's what their attorney told ABC News.
01:23At this house party, she was walking out to the pool area and she looked to her right
01:28and she saw Representative Gaetz having sex with her friend who was 17.
01:33They testified that they met up with Matt Gaetz in New York in January of 2019 for his
01:39appearance on Fox News.
01:42Met up with or traveled with?
01:43Do you know?
01:44So Mr. Gaetz paid them for the tickets to come to New York for the trip.
01:49He was there with another female individual already.
01:52And so the they went to Broadway shows and things like that and met him, went to the
01:56Fox News studio, I believe.
02:00And they went to Broadway shows while they're there.
02:02What show did they see?
02:03I'm just curious now.
02:04Pretty Woman.
02:05About a sex worker.
02:07I had not even thought about that.
02:09How dare she reduce Pretty Woman to just a sex worker?
02:13I mean, it's on the nose.
02:15I mean, ultimately, if it's true, if they are prostitutes, money for sex.
02:22And as he was describing it, it also reminded me very much of the Diddy case, because that's
02:27what he's paying someone to go across straight lines.
02:31Very much like that.
02:32Again, that's the allegation.
02:34But it's unbelievable when you think about it, if they're sitting in the audience watching
02:39the show.
02:40If you are Matt Gaetz and you have paid someone to come to New York with you and you know
02:46that they're there because they're going to have sex with you and you take them to see
02:49a play and you go see Pretty Woman.
02:51I'm not sure what it is you're trying to convey.
02:53It's like that Spider-Man meme, almost.
02:55Yes, it's like the Spider-Man meme, exactly.
02:58Yeah, Matt Gaetz doesn't have many friends at the Capitol, too.
03:04I mean, he is one of the, I don't care if Democrat or Republican, he is one of the more
03:09unpopular guys.
03:10So I don't know, even with Donald Trump trying to lobby and put pressure, whether or not
03:15Matt Gaetz can get confirmed with all of this conversation.
03:19Yeah, I know.
03:20It's just the buzz makes it difficult once the hearing starts.
03:25And I know what you're saying, we've been talking about this, that maybe he's the sacrificial
03:29lamb, right?
03:30And Trump offers him up.
03:31But then why is Donald Trump's leading advisor, I guess you would say at this point, Elon
03:37Musk, also putting it, I mean, here's what Elon Musk said about Matt Gaetz last night.
03:43He said, he has three critical assets needed for the AG role, a big brain, a spine of steel,
03:49and an axe to grind.
03:51He is the Judge Dredd.
03:53America needs to clean up a corrupt system and put powerful bad actors in prison.
03:58Gaetz will be our hammer of justice.
04:00Axe to grind is one of the scariest phrases I have heard in this whole thing.
04:04Look, I mean, the fact that Elon is so, I know, but I think now it makes me feel like
04:09Trump really does.
04:10No, no, no.
04:11But what I think is they need to make this look like, yeah, we want this guy confirmed.
04:16And if they say no to him, it's like, really, you're saying no to him?
04:20At least confirm all these other people, some of whom are really problematic as well.
04:26And it may be that this is his, it's sort of like a lost leader when you go into a store
04:30so you buy something else.
04:33It's the only thing I can think of.
04:34It might not be a strategy, Hart, but it might be an unintended consequence of it all, even
04:38if Trump didn't intend for that initially.
04:40I got to say, as a lawyer, if anybody is viewing an axe to grind as a qualification
04:49for that job-
04:50But Trump has said that that's what he wants.
04:52I'm just saying, if that's the qualification, I'm sorry, guys, again, politics aside, not
04:57talking politics, that is scary.
05:01Nisi from Florida here.
05:03I think Gaetz will absolutely get confirmed.
05:06I mean, there haven't been any actual charges filed against him.
05:11You do sort of have to wonder why, all of a sudden, this is coming back to the surface.
05:16Are we going to go ahead and sweep it under the rug, or are we opening the can of worms
05:20for some sort of smear campaign?
05:23A smear campaign against who?
05:25Trump.
05:28This is too diabolical.
05:29Yeah, I know.
