LTK Founder Amber Venz Box on building her business and more.
Transcript
00:00My name is Amber Vinsvox, and I am the co-founder and president of LTK.
00:20The first time I heard the word creator economy was a decade into our business, and it was
00:24referring to LTK.
00:29The first time I pitched my company to an investor, I had to sit and explain what bloggers
00:32did, that they were valuable, and really who we were as a group of people making original
00:37content.
00:40The very first time I felt like we had made it was getting our very first brand client.
00:46I was upstairs at my dad's house, working out of our old playroom as children, and I
00:50got on the phone with Shopbop, and I pitched them our business, and they said yes, that
00:54they would be a part of it.
00:56That was back in 2010, and when I came downstairs to tell my dad that they had said yes, I was
01:01broken out in hives everywhere because I was so nervous for the meeting, but it felt like
01:05that first yes was everything.
01:07They were all I needed.
01:11The first time that I heard one of our clients became a millionaire, I immediately called
01:15her, got on a plane to New York, and took her and her spouse to dinner.
01:21When we started LTK, I had put myself out of my business, my personal shopping business,
01:26by starting a blog.
01:28My jewelry company was struggling, and I hadn't been getting paid for LTK.
01:32So the first time I got a real paycheck from LTK, I went straight to the leasing office
01:36and moved out of my dad's house.
