00:00Senator Ted Cruz the guy who some would say earned the nickname lion Ted Cruz except this time he might be dropping a truth bomb
00:08One that will be difficult for some people
00:10to digest but
00:12Especially in our town. Yes. He was in DC. I think this is at Reagan National
00:18It is photog caught up with him and asked him about in the after in the aftermath of the election
00:24What can Hollywood learn from this will
00:28Hollywood learn anything from what happened on Election Day
00:31Here's what he had to say the truth with Hollywood is it's about time Hollywood switches over now
00:37It comes over more to the Republican sides. They understand
00:40Well, if they want to listen to America, they should election night was pretty compelling
00:44It's not new that Hollywood is out of touch that they're
00:48They're rich and they're protected. They've got armed guards
00:52So they don't they don't actually understand what working people are locked today Democrats are the party of rich coastal elites
01:00and
01:01Republicans in the party of truck drivers and steelworkers
01:04Thomas firefighters waiters waitresses and the people who work for a living and you know Hollywood
01:10Frankly, they look down on on the working men and women of this country
01:14And I think election was a giant screw you to the folks who looked out on them and said, you know
01:20Do you know what really bugs me about this is he says how Hollywood doesn't understand the working people and is disconnected with America
01:28But doesn't give any reasons as to why I'd love to hear from Ted Cruz and from other people who say this type of stuff
01:34How is all Hollywood out of touch? Is it out of touch because there's too much of an emphasis on diversity and inclusion
01:42Is that the issue here? Because if you just say Hollywood's out of touch, you know, they don't get what's going on with real people
01:49It's like anyone can just make statements like that
01:52Why don't you go into depth a little bit more rather than just creating a boogeyman for people to turn against I hear you Jacob
01:59But I think he's right. I mean when you look at this election
02:03It's true that I mean
02:05I'm an old-line Democrat and it used to be the Party of Labor and it was a party of working people and all and
02:14Minorities and it's shifting and it there's got to be there are reasons that are reasons that what he's saying
02:21Again with the it's irrelevant whether you support this guy or not
02:25But what he's saying is that I think shaming people, you know, which is what happened in Hollywood
02:31You know talking about supporters is garbage and deplorables and all of that and saying if you support Trump
02:38You're automatically a racist and a xenophobe. I think
02:42He's kind of right I want to say people reacted to that and I don't disagree with you
02:46but I want to say something in defense of Hollywood and I think outside of
02:51LA a lot of people may not realize this Hollywood is the majority of Hollywood are hard-working people
02:57Yes, we all see the actors who are on screen and they're make millions and millions of dollars, right?
03:03But there are you're right every one of them. There are you're right 400
03:09Hard-working people who don't make millions and millions of dollars, but the thing and they are
03:13Hard-working people just like anyone really true, but it's absolutely true
03:16But the problem is the people with the megaphone are those people with a lot of money
03:21Yeah, Jacob's really involved in politics. He's in he's our senior producer in New York
03:27If you were running a campaign next time, would you in would you?
03:33Would you cater to celebrities and say oh we want so-and-so to appear so-and-so to sing so-and-so to speak
03:39I think I would I just as a Democrat. I would definitely do it
03:43I would just be again mindful of it because what the Democrats at this time is they just
03:47Replicated the Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign, which obviously didn't work at all
03:52I'm not sure I would embrace celebrities the way it's been done in the past because it ain't working
