Fans of 'Euphoria' were hit with more disappointing news this week as actress Storm Reid, who plays Rue's sister Gia, announced she won’t return for season three, calling her time on the show a "special part of her legacy." This revelation adds to the drama surrounding the show’s future, which has been plagued by delays, scheduling conflicts, and rumors of behind-the-scenes tensions. Allegations of friction between cast members like Barbie Ferreira and creator Sam Levinson have swirled since season two, with Ferreira ultimately exiting the series, though she denied walking off set. Even Zendaya allegedly voiced frustrations over Levinson prioritizing 'The Idol' over 'Euphoria'. Despite all this, HBO insists season three is still on track, but fans are increasingly skeptical, questioning if the show can ever regain its former glory.

00:00Fans of Euphoria received devastating news this week as actress Storm Reid announced
00:05she will not be returning to the show for season three.
00:08The third season of Euphoria has been riddled with delays, scheduling issues, mysteries,
00:13and of course, in true Euphoria fashion, drama.
00:16A large chunk of this drama specifically has involved rumors surrounding the show's writer
00:21and director, Sam Levinson.
00:23Back in 2022, as the second season of Euphoria was rolling out, unconfirmed whispers of a
00:28feud between Barbie Ferreira, who plays Kat, and Sam Levinson started swirling.
00:33The rumors exploded after an anonymous source submitted a tip to Celebrity Gossip Account
00:38to Moi, claiming that Ferreira and Levinson were beefing on set, which resulted in Kat's
00:43lines being cut and Ferreira walking off.
00:46However, while appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast in 2023, Ferreira shut down these
00:51rumors, sharing,
00:52I actually did not walk off set.
00:55I did sprain my ankle once and I had to go get an x-ray.
00:58Maybe that's what they mean.
00:59While this beef seems to just be a rumor, Ferreira announced in August of 2022 that
01:03she would not be returning for season three, and that it was a mutual decision.
01:08However, back in July of this year, there were also rumors swirling that leading lady
01:12Zendaya, who was an advocate for Levinson in the past, was frustrated with the director.
01:18According to an article from The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya had allegedly been frustrated
01:22with Levinson after he devoted more time to the idol than planned, leaving Euphoria somewhat
01:27neglected.
01:28The star was allegedly so bothered by the way things were going with Euphoria towards
01:33the end of season two, she set up a meeting with HBO executives.
01:37Despite this, HBO execs remain firm in their commitment to a Euphoria season three, assuring
01:42that filming will begin in January of 2025.
01:45However, another wrench has just been thrown into the mix.
01:49Actress Storm Reid, known for playing Rue's little sister, Gia, on the show, just announced
01:54that she's done with Euphoria and won't be back for season three.
01:57While at the Governor's Awards on November 17th, Reid revealed to Rotten Tomatoes,
02:02"'Unfortunately, Gia's not returning to the third season, but I am so, so indebted
02:06to the cast and crew of that show, to HBO.
02:10Euphoria's a really special thing and I'm so glad that that's a part of my legacy
02:13and that I was a part of such a cultural phenomenon.
02:16I can't wait to see what season three has in store."
02:19Despite Reid's optimism, fans shared their disappointment online.
02:22Many commenting on the show's struggle to make it to a season three, and some wondering
02:26if Euphoria can ever return to what it once was.
