00:00Hi, I'm Dawn. I'm from Alexandra Sports. I'm the Managing Director.
00:04So Dawn, tell me a little bit about the new store and where we are and how it's all going.
00:09We are at Lakeside 1000 North Harbour.
00:13We moved in on Tuesday 12th November.
00:17We've been really welcomed by the Lakeside community.
00:21They've been absolutely fantastic and we're so happy to be here.
00:25We have 135 acres of land, a beautiful lake and lots of running facilities.
00:31We have a gym and it's amazing. We're very happy.
00:35Tell me what the reaction was like at the opening yesterday.
00:38It was amazing. We had 150 people turn up.
00:44We had Hoka, our supplier here.
00:47We had fantastic cupcakes. Lakeside made us a beautiful cake.
00:52We had Prosecco, we had music and we all went for a run to celebrate 6.30pm.
00:58My parents came along and they cut the ribbon.
01:02They started the business in 1982.
01:05So it was really nice for them to see the new store and how we've moved on over the years.
01:11It was a fantastic evening. I couldn't have wished for it to go on any better to be honest.
01:17Brilliant. Just tell me why the change.
01:20Obviously you were at a store for a very long time and then you've now decided to change. Tell me why.
01:25Lots of reasons really.
01:27I think Gladys Avenue, the building we were in, was over 100 years old and she was a bit tired.
01:33It's a lot of upkeep. We had a lot of interest from property developers etc.
01:39We knew that Lakeside, there was an opportunity here.
01:43These units aren't around for long so it was a quick decision. Let's do it.
01:47And we did. And here we are.
01:50Tell me about what Alexandra Sports are offering these days to the other store.
01:57Is it still the same services?
01:59Absolutely. If anything we've progressed. We're always moving forward.
02:03We're quite high tech. We use Dartfish technology for our video gate analysis.
02:08We carry out a full biomechanical assessment where we're trained by podiatrists.
02:12We have 3D foot scanners. We have pressure mapping, 3D insoles, off the shelf insoles and lots of other things.
02:20So very much so we're doing, if not more, we're doing more.
