00:00So we are here with Russell Dickerson. How are you feeling tonight?
00:04I'm feeling fantastic.
00:06Fantastic, everybody. So tell us about what's the latest update in your life?
00:12Oh my gosh. Well, aside from music, we got two boys, four-year-old and one-year-old.
00:18And life is just insane. It's in shambles, actually.
00:23We threw all of our crap in a rental house and hit the road with Sam Hunt all summer.
00:32Yeah, you did.
00:33And so we're just now coming back to the craziness that we have.
00:38But no, we put out Bones, the EP, a few weeks ago.
00:42And it's been amazing to see the response from that.
00:45I just dropped the song on Instagram like 10 minutes ago.
00:48What? We're hearing it live.
00:50You can go check that out.
00:52What's it called?
00:53It's called Herda in a Country Song.
00:55So it's a little vibey piece for the kids, for the troops.
00:59For the troops. Love it.
01:01So speaking of the troops, how do you stay connected with your family while you're traveling?
01:05Do they come on tour with you?
01:07Yeah, so we've had the absolute year of our lives.
01:11My family tours together, so we took the boys to Yosemite.
01:16We took the boys to Grand Canyon, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley.
01:21We took them on an Alaskan Disney cruise.
01:23Oh, I heard that's one of the best ones.
01:25It's the best time of your life.
01:27It's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen.
01:29We took them to see an iceberg.
01:30No, excuse me, a glacier.
01:32A glacier, not an iceberg.
01:34There's a difference.
01:35I found that out.
01:37And yeah, so we've had the absolute time of our lives.
01:41And next year we'll probably not be together as a family as much.
01:45So we knew that this is a really special time to take the boys out and see the world.
01:50Is your wife here?
01:51Yes, she is.
01:52I would love for her to come.
01:54She's probably radiating light somewhere.
01:57Oh, I'll look for the beam.
01:59She's hanging with the wives.
02:01Oh, okay, okay, okay.
02:03Well, how do you stay connected with her on tour?
02:05I know you're so busy and you have the kids on tour.
02:08It's a lot.
02:09What do you do for her to keep her energy alive?
02:11Yeah, I mean, shout out to her because she's like, we're touring, so I'm focused on that.
02:17So she's the one focused on keeping our family together.
02:20And for the last two, three years, we've had our own family bus.
02:25And so it's been a really special time while our kids are really young to wake up together in Toronto
02:35and go out and hang and find a park and just to spend time together as a family.
02:41Because when I'm in town, we're still writing, we're recording all the time.
02:46So out there on the road is really like when we get that family time.
02:49And how amazing is it that they get to see their dad do what he loves?
02:53And that's so inspiring for them.
02:55So I know this is going to carry on into adulthood and exposing children to the world at a young age is so important.
03:02Yeah.
03:03And is that something that you've grown to appreciate of being on the road and having your kids there
03:07and showing them every aspect of what you do every day?
03:10Oh, yeah.
03:11Remy loves the drum set.
03:13So anytime there's a drum set, he goes up and he's just like...
03:17And we're like, oh, bro, let's just chill out a little bit.
03:20But he's like, can I come out on stage with you?
03:24Can I come sing a song with you?
03:25And I'm like, I mean, you could.
03:27He's in his jammies and his headphones and everything.
03:30We're living the dream.
03:32I bet your fans would love that, though.
03:33I think you should do it.
03:34I'm nudging you to do it.
03:35Okay.
03:36Consider it done.
03:37If it happens, you heard it here first.
03:38You heard it.
