00:00In the 90s, you couldn't look at a red swimsuit without immediately thinking of Pamela Anderson.
00:04But while the former blonde bombshell has, in recent years, changed her image and moved
00:08away from the spotlight, her career is far from over.
00:12Anderson made one of the biggest decisions of her life in 2020, when she moved back to
00:15her native Canada. Her previous home wasn't in the U.S., though. She had actually relocated
00:20to France in 2018. The move distanced her from her Hollywood connections and her previous
00:24life in Los Angeles, though she kept a residence in the city where she first became a Playboy
00:28icon.
00:29Anderson's new home is her old home, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, where she was born.
00:34She relocated there with her two sons, Brandon and Dylan, with whom she spent much of the
00:38pandemic lockdowns. She also brought her elderly parents back home to live nearby in a renovated
00:42motel once owned by her grandmother.
00:44Sounds sweet as hell, but Anderson wasn't always known for her breezy, wholesome lifestyle.
00:49She was associated with Hugh Hefner's Playboy brand for a large part of her career and was
00:53well-known for her party lifestyle. However, her pace of life has changed. Nowadays, she
00:57is enjoying getting back to her roots and connecting with nature and activities associated
01:01with mindfulness and self-care.
01:03Who am I? You know, and that's when I went home into my garden and started, you know,
01:09planting things and getting into nature."
01:11She now spends a great deal of her time at home with her family and in her garden, where
01:14she grows fresh ingredients to use in her kitchen. Her two sons now help her run her
01:18business and develop new creative ideas, while Anderson is also connecting with her roots.
01:23She claims that a love for gardening runs in her family, telling Better Homes and Gardens,
01:26It comes from my grandfather Herman. He was really interesting and the closest person
01:30to me as a child. He was very much into mythology and fairy tales. He would put little mirrors
01:35around in the garden, and he told me that was a way I could catch a glimpse of fairies
01:38and elves."
01:39According to Anderson, her home garden was, quote,
01:41"...the first place my feet touched the actual soil."
01:44In 2023, Anderson released the warmly received memoir Love, Pamela, but her writing aspirations
01:49don't begin and end with her memoir. She also released the cookbook, I Love You! Recipes
01:53from the Heart, at the tail end of 2024.
01:56It's unlikely that many Anderson fans from her career peak in the 90s would be aware
02:00of her lifelong passion for cooking, but she actually became known for her culinary skills
02:04within the industry, and it's also part of her identity within her own family. Anderson
02:08is known to bring homemade treats for film crews when she's on shoots, and is responsible
02:12for the majority of cooking at home.
02:14The cookbook came about after Anderson gifted a box of family recipe cards to her sons,
02:19who were moving into a new home with their partners.
02:21Being the business people that my sons are, I said, Mom, this is a cookbook. We're going
02:25to a publisher."
02:26The work also takes inspiration from her cultural heritage. Anderson's grandfather was Finnish,
02:31and the book contains her take on traditional dishes such as cabbage rolls, pickles, and
02:35other recipes, all of which are plant-based.
02:37While it's become clear that Anderson has shed the screen siren image that brought her
02:41such an incredible amount of fame, she hasn't turned her back on acting altogether. In 2024,
02:45she starred opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in The Last Showgirl, a film by Gia Coppola about
02:50a Vegas dancer whose career comes to an abrupt end. The movie won the special jury prize
02:54at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
02:56Doing the movie, it felt like a dream, and now it just all feels very surreal, like I'm
03:00going to wake up and this isn't really happening."
03:02Anderson herself was given the Zurich Film Festival's Golden Eye Award to celebrate her
03:06remarkable career, so it's clear that Hollywood — and her fans — are still in love with
03:10her.
03:11And Anderson continues to work, with fans hyped about her next project — a reboot
03:15to the classic comedy The Naked Gun. She's starring in the flick alongside Liam Neeson,
03:20and while discussing about her co-star, she told Variety that, quote,
03:22"...Liam is hysterical in it."
