00:00From above ground this might not look like much, and honestly from below it doesn't either,
00:04but this is a Cold War era bomb shelter in the UK. It was built to withstand a nuclear blast,
00:10as the West had its arms race and eventual standoff with Russia last century.
00:14And now after buying the bunker three years ago and restoring it,
00:17this man John Graves has sold it and it fetched a pretty penny.
00:20So the bunker is one of about 1,500 to 1,600 in the UK that were built in the Cold War to monitor
00:27nuclear explosions, radiation and light. Graves bought the bunker to restore and
00:31enjoy it with his family, essentially turning it into an underground campsite.
00:35Now his family may be leaving the UK, meaning they will no longer get any use out of it,
00:39which is why he put it up for sale. The bunker was appraised to be worth around $19,000.
00:44However, when it went up for auction recently, it ended up selling for more than $36,000.
00:49But why? Well, some speculate that a third world war may be on the horizon,
00:53one featuring Russia as the opposition once again. And Graves' shelter isn't the only one
00:58selling like hotcakes. Bunker building firm Burrard says their construction projects are
01:02booming, telling SWNS, in the last six months, we've had a couple of thousand inquiries.
