00:00Well everyone, there it is. Can-Am Motorcycles 2024 Origin electric dual
00:06sport vehicle. This is an all-new vehicle for Can-Am, a subsidiary of Bombier
00:13Bombardier Recreational Products, BRP, out of Quebec, Canada. Can-Am used to
00:19manufacture motorcycles in the 1970s and the 1980s in America. After the 1980s it
00:26went away and it was gone for a while and then they started making three-wheeled
00:30motorcycles in the form of the Spyder and Spyder RT which came in around 2007
00:35and 2009 model year. Fast forward to 2024 now they are entering the street bike EV
00:43segment with this 2024 Origin. This thing is an electric dual sport motorcycle. It
00:50retails for $14,500 in this configuration. It's powered by a nearly
00:57nine kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery that is water-cooled as is the
01:04controller, the charger, and the Rotex motor which puts out right around
01:10upwards of 50 pound-feet of torque to the business end of this 18-inch rear
01:16wheel. Now the motor, the battery, the controller, the charger are all
01:22water-cooled. That helps maintain performance and gives this vehicle more
01:27durability in the long run. Now you charge this vehicle via this traditional
01:34J1772 plug. This is the same type of plug that you can charge your electric
01:39vehicles at home with and other motorcycles like Zero Motorcycles and
01:44other things like that. Very easy to use. This thing charges from 0 to 80% in 50
01:53minutes and 0 to 100% in an hour and 30 minutes. To do that Can-Am fitted a big
01:596 kilowatt charger so this vehicle is equipped with a very big charger. So
02:04although the battery is small, it's got a big charger so you can charge up quick. The
02:09top speed of this vehicle is 80 miles per hour. Now this vehicle with a full
02:16lithium-ion tank of batteries weighs at 412 pounds. This is a very light electric
02:23vehicle. It rolls on a 21-inch spoked aluminum front wheel and 18-inch spoked
02:28aluminum rear wheel, shod with KYB suspension and 43-millimeter inverted
02:33fork, no damping or spring preload adjustment. And we have another direct
02:37drive shock that mounts directly between the motor and the battery. It's worth
02:43noting that the battery in this vehicle is a structural member of the vehicle.
02:46There's no traditional frame. The traditional frame is the battery. That was
02:51one of the ways Can-Am was able to get this vehicle to have such a low 412
02:56pound curb weight. Now this vehicle is equipped with LED lighting and we have
03:00this nice 10.25-inch color TFT display. It's very nice looking. It's got
03:07touchscreen compatibility and you can use this chunky switch gear with your
03:11gloves. It's got nice switch gear. Very easy to use. Lots of settings. Of course this
03:17vehicle has adjustable traction control and different engine power modes. Can-Am
03:24calls it, I'm sorry, motor power modes. Can-Am has sport, normal, rain, and touring
03:31but I wish they would just call it high, medium, and low. Just call it high, medium,
03:35and low because that's all that it is in terms of the performance of the motor
03:39and the battery. Now this vehicle comes with double hydraulic disc brakes. One
03:46hydraulic disc brake there. One hydraulic disc brake there inside the single-sided
03:52swing arm and we have fixed always-on ABS. Rear ABS is disabled when you put
03:58this vehicle in off-road mode. So you can put this vehicle in off-road mode. Rear
04:02ABS is disabled and it gives it a very low power map so you're not going to have
04:07any problems. But realistically if you like to go fast you're going to want to
04:10ride it in sport or normal mode and manually disable rear ABS somehow so you
04:16can still get the rear wheel to slide. Well folks that's a quick preview style
04:21review of this 2024 Can-Am Origin. This vehicle retails for $14,500. It's made in
04:30Mexico. It comes with a two-year warranty. This vehicle will be for sale at Can-Am
04:35United States dealers beginning fall of 2024. I'm sorry beginning spring of 2025.
04:41As always make sure to give this video a thumbs up if you liked it. Thumbs it down
04:45if you didn't because we'd love to hear from the naysayers. Surf on over to the
04:49website. There's lots of content on these vehicles and others like it. We'll see
04:52you next time.
