00:00I'm Conway Gittins reporting from the New York Stock Exchange.
00:03Here's what we're watching on the street today.
00:05The Dow rallied into Friday's close as investors continued to position for a Trump administration.
00:11Consumers are also preparing for a change in the White House.
00:14Consumer sentiment inched up in November to its highest level since April.
00:18Republican consumers were more upbeat, while Democrats were more downbeat.
00:23Turning to next week's holiday shortened calendar, the big number comes from the PCE index, which
00:29is the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge.
00:33Speaking of inflation, McDonald's is still trying to find the right menu in a world where
00:38eaters are fed up with high prices.
00:41The fast food giant is introducing what it is calling the McValue menu.
00:46A $5 budget deal that's already available will continue at least through the summer.
00:51The $5 bundle includes a small drink and fries, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, and either a
00:56McDouble cheeseburger or McChicken sandwich.
00:59In addition, its Buy One, Add One for $1 offerings will be expanded to breakfast time.
01:07McDonald's will also roll out special deals in local markets and for app users.
01:11McDonald's USA President Joe Ellinger said in a web statement, quote, when it comes to
01:15value, we know there's no one-size-fits-all.
01:19We've worked closely with our franchisees to create a new platform that will let our
01:24customers define value on their own terms.
01:28The McValue menu fully kicks in in January 2025 in response to Mickey D's first back-to-back
01:34drop in quarterly sales since the pandemic.
01:38Eating at McDonald's is now roughly 40 percent more expensive than it was five years ago.
01:45That'll do it for your daily briefing from the New York Stock Exchange.
01:48I'm Conway Gittins with The Street.
