00:06A college football game inside a Major League Baseball Stadium
00:11and an undefeated army team also in a step up spot against
00:16number six Notre Dame. It is our second of three top 25 tilts
00:21on the second to last Saturday of the 2024 college football
00:25regular season. Fourteen and a half points spread in favor of
00:29Notre Dame against number 19 Army this game inside Yankee
00:34Stadium under the lights tonight up in the Bronx Army
00:38undefeated 9 and 0 for the first time since 1996 outside of
00:43a bad game against Northern Illinois in a non cover against
00:47another Mac team in Miami of Ohio Notre Dame Notre Dame has
00:52been pretty darn elite. They are 70 and one against the spread
00:56in games against non Mac foes this year and you see it in the
01:00spread more than two touchdowns in favor of the Irish. I think
01:03it's a tricky number today because we look at Navy and
01:07their perception going into the game against Notre Dame that
01:09number 14 and a half. It felt fair felt fine out Navy started
01:13to turn the football over a ton and allowed Notre Dame to
01:15extend and you know, when you're a service Academy, it's hard
01:18to have that type of comeback. I think what's interesting is
01:21at the moment. Now, if I were to tell you Army and Navy were
01:23to play tomorrow. What does that line look like that games
01:26not pick? Yeah, right, but Army hasn't really had a game where
01:32their card could be pulled as Navy did right Army has not ran
01:36up against Tulane or Memphis, which is why their schedule is
01:42been, you know, so atrocious or strength of schedule is is so
01:46atrocious here and I think what you have on the board for
01:50Notre Dame today is what would so funny the way it played up
01:55like a game that just a few weeks ago. I thought would be
01:59important to stack a big way. It doesn't even matter when by a
02:03few goal, right? And it's yeah. Great. We're going to, you
02:06know, see it South Bend. We'll be hosting a playoff game. Got
02:08one, you know, one more in our way to me. Easy to fascinate
02:12anything is Army if they pull off this upset. Listen again.
02:16I don't know if this committee will do it. I don't trust them
02:18very much. Army must jump Boise State for the G5 spot. My
02:23opinion couldn't agree more. And again, this is the Super Bowl
02:26for Army right now. It holds bigger implications than next
02:29week when they play UTSA because the perception for them to
02:33knock down that college football playoff door. I've been telling
02:36you for the expanded playoff. What do I want to see? I want to
02:39see the triple option, you know, one game type of situation up
02:43against the likes of the Big 10 and the Big 12 or any one of the
02:46power conferences. It would be a fantastic type of situation.
02:50This is your opportunity, but I don't want to take away from
02:53both teams. Notre Dame strength right now. Obviously, Riley
02:55Leonard, he throws for 214 last week, three touchdowns that you
02:59have to win by 21. Don't cover against Virginia. Secondary
03:02playing lights out holding opposing offenses to a buck 50
03:05through the air, 48 percent completion percentage. Good
03:08news is Army doesn't throw it. They run it. They're averaging
03:11334 on the price and daily could be a Heisman Trophy candidate
03:15if he has a huge performance today at 300 to one. I'm almost
03:19clicking it now. If they pulled off the upset, I'll just say
03:22this. The defense for Army, in my opinion, is much better than
03:26Navy. Let's not forget in that game in MetLife Navy six
03:29turnovers in that matchup. That was a more deceiving than what
03:32it was. I'm not suggesting Notre Dame didn't deserve to win it
03:35or win it by margin. It's just that the six turnovers help by
03:38winning winning it by 35 plus. They're only allowing 10 points
03:42per game. They're only giving up 82 rushing launch to opposing
03:45offenses and more importantly, 38 percent third down defense.
03:49I'm talking to you. Soldier play Army plus the 14 and a half
03:53outright. I'm banging it. Let's go. Joe Lacey is fired up for
03:57those cadets tonight up in the Bronx and Army again with a very
04:02easy schedule based on perception 133rd nationally. There are
04:07134 FBS teams, but Army has done to its schedule much what
04:13Indiana has done to theirs. They are 7-1-1 against the spread
04:17Army is the only team in the country that has won each of its
04:21games this season by double digits. Every time nine
04:25victories 9-0 for the first time in nearly three decades in
04:29each game decided by 10 plus points to have there are some
04:33that look at this game and make the comparison between the game
04:36in Notre Dame and Navy and this one to Lacey's point Army's
04:40defense so much better than that of the midshipman this year,
04:44but Notre Dame has looked really good as of late. They have
04:48scored 31 points in six consecutive games. We see wants
04:52to see a triple option offense in the college football playoff
04:55at times. Riley Leonard, Jeremiah Love and Darian Price have
04:59looked exactly like that. What is stood out to you most about
05:03the fighting Irish at least in their response since that
05:06disaster against Northern Illinois? Yeah, listen, I was
05:08leading the charge to fire Freeman after the loss of
05:11Northern Illinois and it's still an inexcusable result and why
05:14I worried so much about this team making the playoff and by
05:17the way, I don't think they're home free just yet. Today's
05:21tricky. You're calling for an outright loss and you pay
05:23attention what's going on with USC. That is not going to be
05:26some steamroll walkover spot for the Notre Dame fighting
05:29either, but what they've done where I think they just had
05:33sleepy spot after sleepy spot after upset alert after upset
05:36alert is they've punished teams like we could. I think when we
05:41go back and forth on where Notre Dame ranks, you know, kind of
05:45what you use to your advantage and it's and it's your wise to
05:48is Notre Dame is not keeping these things close. They are
05:52taking what is has been an easy schedule and they are bending
05:55it at its will and that's what they might do today against
05:59Army here. I think that's what makes the number tricky Joe
06:01because I think Army will be able to move the football some.
06:04I don't know if they'll get any stops against Notre Dame
06:07because the Irish all like you would just sometimes pick your
06:09head up man of these Irish games on Peacock and you go hold on
06:12a minute. We flip over to Brooklyn 99. It's over. They
06:14already got 28 on the board. Now. What's happening here? I
06:17will say this that my favorite bet in this game is Bryson
06:20Daly over 88 and a half. I mean looks like a misprint to me
06:24quite frankly, you're talking about someone who missed this
06:26in his opening game. I think they're playing Lehigh right
06:29since then. It's a hundred and ten or more in every single
06:31game. A hundred and thirty-six plus in five of his last seven
06:36and the first game back from injury. He went out there and
06:39had a season high workload of 36 carries against North Texas
06:44and here's the comparison point that I care about Blake
06:47Horvath who went out there and lit up Notre Dame in a route
06:50going for a hundred and twenty-nine yards on just 14
06:53carries. I don't think Daly leaves this game without 30
06:56touches regardless of the final score. I love him over
06:5988 and a half. Averaging over six yards per carry, right?
07:026.221 rushing touchdowns and the ability to hit pay dirt not
07:06once but multiple times. I think, you know, the only way
07:09really and I'm back in Army, right? The only way they can
07:12win is if they dictate the tempo start with the football
07:15take an eight or a nine-minute drive score and put the
07:19pressure on Notre Dame for limited touches and then force
07:22that, you know, pressure on Riley Leonard. You know,
07:24they're going to eat. You know, Notre Dame will get yards.
07:27It's just limited possessions. If we score first, Notre Dame
07:30has to play catch up, right? They make a mistake, then all
07:33of a sudden, we're in it. So, you know, it wouldn't shock me
07:36again if Notre Dame wins at forty to twenty. They're the
07:38much better team but that's why playing the triple option in
07:41terms of a playoff type of situation and that's what we
07:45have now in a neutral field. You know, the cadets travel and
07:48we know it's a pro Notre Dame field in New York. All eyes
07:52are on the product. This is a fantastic atmosphere. Can't
07:55wait to see how it plays out.
