Govt mulls offering psychosocial counselling on social media

Psychosocial counselling services are being mulled for use on social media platforms, the Dewan Rakyat was told. 00:02This is a very relevant question.

00:05And also for the information of the members of Parliament,

00:50an increase of 16.5% as many as 922,318 in 2023.

01:04regarding the use of social media is one of the best advice.

01:09At this time, KKM is also trying to expand the support of psychosocial

01:14through four main platforms,

01:16which are Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter and also Telegram,

01:20where we will use and we are also approaching influencers

01:25as an example of an influencer named Sadie Ang,

01:28where even though she often boasts about delicious food,

01:34but she openly admits that she has an interest

01:39and also openly talks about this mental health issue.

01:44This is one of the needs.

01:46And I also advise all 222 MPs in this court,

01:51including the Speaker, to intensify,

01:54because this mental health issue cannot be seen at a glance.

01:58Sometimes there is a very high endurance of the individual,

02:02so that we do not see the intention to commit suicide.

02:06But suddenly we hear the news,

02:08there is a suicide incident.

02:10At the government facilities, at KKM,

02:12at the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, it continues to happen.

02:15So I really ask that the Ministry,

02:20such as the Ministry of Communications,

02:22continue to help in terms of expanding,

02:25not only about fake news,

02:28but also to disseminate stories about this mental health issue.

02:32Especially the idea of committing suicide.
