00:00A mass shooting at a Sweet 16 party in Alabama has left at least four people dead and the shooter
00:05still remains at large. Another 28 people, at least 15 of which are teenagers, were also injured,
00:10some critically, in the Saturday night mass shooting. While the Dadeville Police Department
00:15says it has solid leads, it is still turning to the public for help in identifying and apprehending
00:20the shooter. Two of the four killed were seniors at Dadeville High School and only months away
00:24from heading off to college. Following the tragedy, President Biden released a statement
00:28urging Congress to pass common sense gun control laws. According to Every Town for Gun Safety,
00:33a gun violence prevention organization, Alabama is ranked 34th in the country in gun law strength.
00:39The rating is scored according to each state's gun law policies compared to its rate of gun
00:44violence. Currently in the state, it is legal to carry a concealed firearm without a permit,
00:48shoot first, or stand your ground self-defense laws are in place, and teachers can arm themselves
00:53in schools if they qualify under the Alabama Century Program.
