The English singer is a fan of Ipswich Town, the team that played (and drew) against Manchester United in the Portuguese coach's debut match in charge of the Reds.

Expectations for Rúben Amorim's debut as Manchester United manager were high... but they brought nothing more to the British team than a draw, earning just one point in the Premier League standings.

The Portuguese coach didn’t have the start he hoped for with the Red Devils and, instead, was met with a moment that could be described as bittersweet. All thanks to the internationally renowned British singer Ed Sheeran!

It all happened during an interview given by Rúben Amorim this Sunday, November 24, to Sky News. Ed Sheeran decided to interrupt the moment when the Portuguese coach was speaking to greet one of the channel's TV commentators, Jamie Redknapp, live on air.

Shortly afterward, journalist Kelly Cates attempted to spark a brief conversation between the two, but the truth is that Ed Sheeran, a passionate Ipswich Town supporter — the team that thwarted a possible victory for Manchester United — ended up taking a playful jab at Rúben Amorim.

"I think he doesn’t want to talk to me," the singer said, laughing, almost provocatively. The coach had no problem responding and even confirming: "No, I don’t want to," he said. Ed Sheeran went on to add, "I love that we’re back in the Premier League."

It’s worth noting that many social media users are criticizing Ed Sheeran’s gesture. "Honestly, I’m a bit shocked by Ed Sheeran’s lack of manners," and "Rúben Amorim should walk onto the stage during Ed Sheeran’s next concert," are just two of the reactions circulating online.
