Is it true he interned for Barack Obama? Or that he never leaves his house without a hat?

00:00Starlight Gallery is being released this year, true or false?
00:04We don't know.
00:06We don't know.
00:08Yo, it's Chance the Rapper for Brute.
00:19True. I knew I wanted to be a rapper since I heard The College Dropout by Kanye West.
00:23And I remember my first studio session, I went to my cousin's house.
00:27He had like a little put-together studio in the basement of his crib.
00:32And yeah, I've been recording since then, since I was like 10 or 11.
00:40False. I've never really wanted to work in politics per se.
00:46But you can get political for sure.
00:49Politics per se hasn't really ever affected my music.
00:52But politically sound or political activism, I guess is the better way to put it.
01:01It's something that has always been an important thing for me just as a human being.
01:10Sort of true. Sort of true.
01:12I did some call banking when I was in my freshman year of high school.
01:17I got on the phone and was like, hey, are you planning on a vote?
01:21And like did some door-to-door thing too, like in Gary, Indiana.
01:27Did some knocking on doors and putting flyers in people's things.
01:30Yeah, it was a pretty cool job actually.
01:36True. True. Sort of true.
01:38I did write a lot of my first mixtape, 10 Day, was written when I was on suspension.
01:45But I ended up, it took a little more time than 10 Days.
01:48That's misleading to people. I'm sorry that I make it seem like that sometimes.
01:51I wrote it in, let's say, six months.
01:57That is false.
01:59I don't go to many events without my hat.
02:03And I don't go that often out of my house without my hat.
02:06But there are some days where it's just easier to not wear the hat.
02:12Three is my, I drew that three when I made my third mixtape, Color In A Book.
02:18And yeah, it just became something that became like a staple of the Chance the Rapper experience.
02:26I don't know.
02:32I'm not a fan.
02:33You're not a fan.
02:34False. False. False.
02:35Yes, I'm a White Sox fan.
02:36They almost tripped me up there.
02:38No, yeah, I'm a White Sox fan.
02:39I'm a Southsiders.
02:40You gotta be.
02:41Almost all my pictures before, I had a three hat on me and a White Sox cap.
02:44Or no cap at all.
02:45But I had an affinity for different variations of the White Sox cap.
02:54True.
02:55Yeah, we founded Social Works in, I think, 2015.
02:59And yeah, it's gone on to raise over $12 million for Chicago.
03:05Done a lot of work in mental health and homeless and transient youth.
03:10A lot of stuff.
03:11A lot of stuff.
03:12Got a day camp, open mic, a lot of stuff going on.
03:16And I'm really proud of the organization, too.
03:19Just some of the strides and some of the work that they've accomplished.
03:22It's pretty amazing.
03:29Yeah, the Black Star Line Fest.
03:30That is true.
03:31Black Star Line Fest.
03:32The first iteration of it went down in West Africa earlier this year.
03:37And brought out 52,000 people.
03:40And Dave Chappelle and Erykah Badu and T-Pain and Vic Mensa.
03:45A lot of really dope just people overall.
03:49And yeah, I was really proud of it.
03:51And you're right.
03:52It was free.
03:53True.
03:54I think it was one of my favorite times performing ever.
03:56And one of the most important performances of my life.
03:59But also just organizing and creating community for people.
04:02And safety for people also brings me a lot of joy.
04:06And the peace after it.
04:08When you get to sleep after it's all done.
04:14True.
04:15Yes, the Star Line Gallery.
04:17My album title is deeply inspired by Marcus Garvey and the Pan-Africanist movement.
04:23He owned a ship.
04:25A huge passenger ship.
04:26A series of them actually.
04:27A fleet called the Black Star Line.
04:30And it was a bunch of different ships that were passenger ships.
04:34But also ships used for trade.
04:36Between black people in the Americas and in the islands in South America.
04:40So I always wanted to expand on that.
04:48False.
04:49The cover for Star Line Gallery has yet to be decided.
04:55But it'll definitely be multiple covers.
04:57And for each song actually, there's an individual art piece.
05:01And an accompanying artist that I collaborated with on the song.
05:07I think it's created a lot of conversations I don't typically have.
05:10It's given me an excuse to travel so much.
05:12And just learning from my counterparts in this life of creating.
05:22It's really shaped even my writing style.
05:26And some of my taste in music.
05:33We don't know.
05:35We don't know.
05:37You almost got me.
05:39Okay, okay.
05:40You almost got me.
05:41I'm going to say TBD.
