00:00Should men have a say in abortion rights?
00:03No.
00:04Men don't have to carry a child.
00:06Men don't really face any responsibilities.
00:09Yes.
00:10This is Russell for Brute.
00:11I'm in Washington Square Park.
00:12And we're here to ask some men about abortion.
00:15Should men have a say in abortion rights?
00:18No.
00:19I think everybody should have a conversation,
00:21but I think ultimately,
00:24you know, it's not up to us.
00:25What to do is, you can't tell someone what to do with their body.
00:28It has nothing to do with us, you know.
00:29It's really all them.
00:32We're not the ones that's actually getting pregnant and giving birth.
00:36That's not our choice.
00:38Why do you think men should have a say in abortion rights?
00:40Because men have a lot of power,
00:42and so they could make good laws.
00:45No.
00:46I believe in my body, my choice.
00:49Well, they should have say.
00:51No, they should only be able to talk to the woman.
00:53The woman is the one to make decisions because it's her body.
00:57Perhaps in their own relationship, it's their child,
00:59but not as far as nationally goes.
01:02Yes, I do.
01:03I really do.
01:04Because it takes two to tangle, you know what I'm saying?
01:06You know, that's his baby just as much as hers.
01:08Everyone should have a say in abortion rights, women and men included.
01:12I don't think it should be a decision that should be made by one singular sex.
01:16What do you think is the best way for a man to be an abortion rights activist?
01:21They're not supposed to be there at all.
01:23No idea.
01:24Listen to what women say.
01:26Yeah.
01:27Respect women's rights.
01:29Stand up for the people in his life who are fighting for the same cause,
01:32and, you know, stand behind it if he believes in it.
01:35The only way is to support the woman.
01:37There's nothing they can do except for support her.
01:39Men should be educated, you know?
01:42I think they should be informed of the laws, the procedures,
01:46things that happen in those situations.
01:48If the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade,
01:51how do you think that would affect you?
01:53As a man? Yeah.
01:56I'm sure the same way it would affect women.
02:01I mean, like, right now they're playing, like, games with actual human beings.
02:06If they want to carry the baby, why not?
02:08If they don't, why not?
02:10That's their body, their choice.
02:12You know what I mean?
02:13I don't know if it would, like, really affect me.
02:17Maybe the things I might do to someone else, but, like,
02:23I mean, even that doesn't really affect me, selfishly.
02:27I mean, I think we would all feel some sort of ripple effect
02:31because we all have, you know, moms and sisters and aunts that we all care for,
02:36and it's like, these should be essential rights for women.
02:40The only way it would affect me is because it would hurt my friends, I know that,
02:44because they're really upset about the issue right now.
02:46That's one of those things that wouldn't affect me at all,
02:49but it would create a cultural environment that would create a lot of angry women.
02:54That would affect me.
02:56It would affect me a great f***ing deal.
02:59I mean, directly, at this time, I don't think it would affect me,
03:03but, you know, at some point down the line, it could.
03:06It could affect everyone.
