"This is what I call the 'Kardashian-ization' of our young people."

More and more young people are getting cosmetic surgery to look like their favorite social media filters or celebrities ... And regretting it. Here's why.

00:00Do I regret the FOXXR procedure? Yes, I do.
00:12We often get people who bring photos of themselves that are filtered and they ask to look like that filtered image.
00:22With the amount of actual surgeries being shown on social media, we're seeing people come in and asking for surgery at ages that we had really never seen before.
00:31All right, guys. Here goes nothing. I'm really nervous. Please don't make fun of me if they look really stupid.
00:38See after. I feel like a dog.
00:41This is what I call the Kardashian-ization of our young people. So many people are trying to look like a Kardashian or a Jenner sister.
00:50So I just got my lips done. But dude, but the thing is, is that whenever you get your lips done, they swell up and not going to cap.
00:58I look like one of those Beverly Hills moms.
01:00Operations like liposuction of a double chin, operations like lifting of the eyebrows, nose jobs, even facelifts in people who are younger.
01:10These operations that were that they're requesting just aren't necessary.
01:15I turn away probably one out of every five or six people that come to see me.
01:18And the main reason why I turn so many people away is because of unrealistic expectations.
01:24Patients who come in thinking that a surgery is going to do something for them, that it just won't.
01:36These procedures are meant to, let's say, make the eyes larger.
01:40So there is a procedure called the Fox I lift where the eye is lifted and it's actually tilted upward.
01:46It's often done with sutures and quite often the results really only last maybe about six to 12 months.
01:52But it still is a surgical procedure.
01:59I will definitely admit I was a bit naive at the beginning.
02:02I was told in eight weeks time it's going to lift itself even more.
02:06And then over time, like as it healed, I realized like I just believed it.
02:13But it like it was kind of bull.
02:16Lips are being made bigger every day by injections of filler.
02:19And Kylie Jenner at one point admitted that she had had filler injected into her lips.
02:24I have temporary lip fillers.
02:26It's just an insecurity of mine and it's what I wanted to do.
02:37It's the same thing. You can feel these different balls of silicone.
02:41And silicone never goes away.
02:43The problem with injecting filler in the lips is that that can create scar tissue.
02:48Scar tissue that can last a very, very long time.
02:51And sometimes filler can be injected inappropriately causing lumps and bumps.
02:56And can even cause dead tissue in the lips which can scar.
03:00I'm a bad baby. Oh no. Oh no.
03:04So even though it's done with a needle and not a knife, there are still considerable potential risks associated with it.
03:10It is so bad, I want to give you a zero.
03:14But that's not possible. So I give you a one.
03:18The law is quite lenient in who can perform these procedures even if they're not qualified to do it.
03:25Worst case scenario, you can have these procedures done in hotel rooms, in private homes, by people who are not, not, not qualified to inject it.
03:33And on top of that, there are people injecting black market products that can potentially be deadly.
03:39The problem with social media nowadays is that most plastic surgeons and dermatologists and other cosmetic doctors use social media basically as an ad platform.
03:57It's a way for them to market their services. Not necessarily a way for them to educate their followers.
04:03Most plastic surgeons only share with you the great stuff that happens to their patients.
04:06I'm going to share with you something horribly scary that happened to one of mine.
04:09I became nauseated at the thought that I may have caused this.
04:12All you're seeing are these great before and afters, and they're not telling you about the potential risks.
04:17And even about some of the bad things that can happen to their patients, then you've really got to make sure that you do your research.
