00:00Your eyes, your words, like a rifle shot, you are a real foreign friend, happy birthday
00:14to you.
00:15I spent my childhood in Jaipur and during the holidays we used to go to our mother father's
00:22place, Tonk.
00:24And during the time of Tonk, did you want to do something like acting?
00:31No, there was nothing like that, at that time we were just exploring.
00:34The thing is that there, among the kids, we used to try to make up stories,
00:41in the afternoon everyone is sleeping, in the afternoon there is a room which is empty and cold,
00:47so we used to go there and do some mischief and make up stories, we used to make up a beard
00:54like this, that I have a beard.
00:56So that was a small fascination, a fascination of stories has always been there since childhood.
01:00It was the time of teenagers, when cinema itself made me want to do this.
01:06Some actors have a hand in it, Naseer sir has a very big hand in it.
01:11When Naseer sir did it, I felt that this world can be explored a lot and I can immerse myself in it.
01:19What was the age when you did it?
01:21I think I must have been 16 years old, 14 or 16 years old, I think.
01:27Mithun Chakraborty's Mrigya was released at that time and someone said that I look like you,
01:33so I got a kind of assurance that I am good.
01:39Mr. Irfan, tell us that after reaching Mumbai, you spent a long time looking for your kind of films.
01:49So was it something like this that you were doing it and you were tired and you were losing?
01:55The thing that Disha was giving me was that I wanted to enjoy myself on screen and that was a period of training.
02:05Even after National School of Drama, you kept trying to make yourself easy in front of the camera.
02:11So that didn't let me wander too much.
02:15I was stuck in this that when will I do such a thing that I will feel good to see myself.
02:23The sense of defeat was never like that.
02:25You have always been there to conquer something.
02:29I keep looking for stories.
02:31I wish stories would find me.
02:33Because my story is my religion as long as I am telling stories.
02:37And I am still looking for my story.
02:41How much time do you give to your wife and children while doing all this?
02:49I mean, I try my best to see the children growing up there.
02:53And whenever there is such a long schedule, I cry a lot.
02:59It is a big mistake to see the children grow up.
