00:00So I went to the audition with my friends thinking that hey we're gonna bust them and
00:05on the very next day we'll be on the front page of a newspaper and we'll be the heroes.
00:15Hi, I'm Radhika Madan for Brute.
00:24Somebody spotted me on Facebook and they called me for an audition which
00:28I didn't believe was a real audition. I was into a lot of Crime Patrol and Goomra
00:37shows and I thought that hey they're just fooling me around and all of that. The casting director
00:42was actually on his Facebook page and in the close friends on the left you actually see other
00:48profiles and she saw my profile and she messaged me, clicked on that, checked out my pictures and
00:54messaged me and I actually thought that was fake. So I went to the audition with my friends
01:00thinking that hey we're gonna bust them and on the very next day we'll be on the front
01:04page of a newspaper and we'll be the heroes and whatnot but when I entered they were on a call
01:10and I saw an actual audition going on and they were like should we come in and I was like no
01:16there is an actual audition going on and I had prepped for every scenario but this.
01:22So that is how I was like okay just wait outside five minutes I'm coming in five minutes
01:27and I was good at memorizing in school. So I memorized the script in like
01:3410 minutes, 5 minutes and I was like I need to get out of here because I was so embarrassed.
01:41I'm blackmailing you, I just understood the topic but promise me.
01:47Everyone used to tell me that hey they have preconceived notions about television actors
01:51and you've just given a hit show let me offer you a few more shows and you're a star here
01:57and why would you want to trade that and start something afresh nobody knows you there and
02:02why would you want to do that to yourself. So it was very tough because at that time
02:09I'm not sure if it's still prevalent but at that time there used to be a notion of
02:15television actors being too loud for movies and but in my head acting is acting.
02:23It doesn't matter what the medium is. I gave them examples of Vidya ma'am or Shahrukh sir
02:30and Sushant's set was right next to mine. So they thought I was a fool and they told me you're
02:36gonna come back after a year of not getting any work and I didn't get any work for two years.
02:42I was stuck at home giving auditions. My peers were growing in their lives and they were like
02:51why the hell did you do that to yourself and to your career? Come back and all of that and
02:57I was like hey I'm just gonna work on myself because I had a lot of unlearning to do
03:02because if you get stuck in this reality of things not working out and that regret of
03:09leaving television at that high and whatnot it won't do any good to you. So yes I was
03:16borderline delusional but my dreams have come true.
03:21Honestly I don't read the comments a lot. I just read the top few which are from my friends and I
03:35reply to them and there have been few like fans have been like really kind to me but
03:42yes there are trolls but but I also feel that they themselves are coming from such a dark place and
03:50such an insecure place so I actually pity them more than get affected by them like dude this
03:56person is this person needs help and initially of course I like reported and blocked a lot of
04:04people. I was like I don't want this on my profile I don't want this on my profile but then I got
04:08accustomed to it and I was like hey they're coming from a really bad space and may god bless them
04:14because it is not going to make any difference in my life.
04:28I can just say that all three films that I've been a part of who has been selected in the
04:36who have been selected in the festival it it was something which was small budgeted it was
04:42something which was too far-fetched for everyone to even dream of and everybody's lives were on
04:52on stake so the stakes were really high all of them were underdogs and they just gave their
05:01all to to this one project and not even just the actors or the director the whole crew.
